SDG sorry to hear of your loss :(

I'm feeling a bit cream crackered tonight...bed after posting this I think. Got a B&B guest who wants brekkie at 9am...work as soon as possible after...and when I've finished work I've got to drive to Carmarthen to pick up DD from the train with the rescue doggie, and deliver him to the other DD and her BF. Hoping it all goes OK and that my friend in London is OK after handing dog over. Really quite worried about that, but trying not to pass it on to the kids.

Thank God I've Sunday off, but there's a yard sale I want to go to :j and I need to start planning the market for Tuesday. Still have a pile of paperwork that I am prevaricating over. Not for any good reason...

Here is the courgette cake, cut and pasted from Downsizer Forum where it is Green Rosie's recipe! It's very moist and nice.

    Ingredients

200g (7 oz) grated courgette (yellow looks best)
    150g (5 oz) caster sugar
    1 egg
125ml (4 fl oz) vegetable oil
    200g (7 oz) plain flour
    1/2 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
    1/4 teaspoon baking powder
Juice and zest of 2 lemons
    50g sugar

    Preparation method
    Prep:15 mins | Cook:45 mins
    1. Preheat oven to 160 C / Gas mark 3. Grease a loaf tin.
    2. In a bowl, beat together the courgette, sugar, egg and oil.
    3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, salt, bicarbonate of soda and baking powder.
    4. Stir in the lemon zest.
    5. Stir the flour mixture into the courgette mixture just until blended.
    4. Pour the batter into the prepared tin.
    7. Bake 45 minutes in the preheated oven until a knife inserted in the centre comes out clean.
    8. Just before the cake is ready make a syrup by gently heating the remaining sugar in the lemon juice until dissolved.
    9. Remove from heat and jab all over with a skewer then pour the syrup over the cake whilst still in the tin.
    10. Leave to cool fully in the tin.

  • Had a lovely day today, the home ed group that we know were having a music group day and we did some fantastic percussion and lots of the kids performed for us. DD did some surprisingly tuneful piano bashing and was jolly impressed with herself. She then amazed me in the bath tonight by counting up to 4 with her bath lights, and got a big kiss from me every time she got to 4. OH came upstairs to get her out of the bath and asked her what came after 4? Her reply was 'a kiss'!! ahhh - much more fun than 5.
  • PAH ( I think who was talking about laptop) I bought a reconditioned netbook from ebay. It's a great little thing and it only cost me £70. It was from a company that sold reconditioned ones rather than a private small seller and I had a 12 month warrenty with it in case anything went wrong.

PAH if you havent already bought I bought the kids two laptops from Schtrade and they were really quick, they sell PCs too, and a good variety.
