Fuddle thats great
Reminds me of camping with the guides lol
I stopped ironing too, it was soul-destroying. Now i only iron DH's work shirts, anything else is only for special occasions. Mind you it doesn't matter if i iron or not, you could dress my kids in Gucci and Dior and they'd still look like Stig of the Dump lol :rotfl: Scruffs!
I missed Wartime Farm but have it sky+ so will watch it when i have a quiet evening when DH is away.
I recently finished a pram blanket as a new baby present for my friend and now i'm starting on a dolls cot set for another friends little girl for her birthday present. I do love giving handmade gifts but i choose carefully who i make for, some people just don't appreciate it or thinks it's a cop-out because you haven't spent much moneyCrochet keeps my hands busy in the evenings, also keeps my mitts off the biscuit tin
I really want one of those cupboards now, i had to go and nosy on ebay. I'm on the look out for a dresser top to attach to the wall to house all my vintage china, i have quite a few Johnson Brothers, Meakin and Woods pieces all in lovely pastel shades. I regularly go 'treasure hunting' in charity shops, flea markets and car boots for new bits.
The weather can't seem to make it's mind up, i keep putting the maiden out, bringing it in, out again, back in - grrr!

FUDDLE - Did you re-heat the potato whole ? You might find it works better if you cut it in half and reheat it cut side down on the foil, not so thick then for the heat to penetrate, so would reheat better and faster. Cheers Lyn xxx.0

I iron everything apart from bedding, towels, pants and Pj's. It is soul destroying but I can't stop it. Glutton for punishment huh
Yeah MrsL I popped it on whole. It was one of the ones I precooked then froze. I defrosted it overnight and put it on. I will half it next time. I've found my camping kettle but the old bean tin worked really fast to boil the water.
Only down side? I smell like a bonfire :rotfl:0 -
Well done Fuddle!
I would be keeping my eyes out for either a dumped cooker (you want the shelves) or in a skip sometimes you can see that aluminium mesh builders use (you have to ask to take from the street even if it looks dumped) for your cooking grill - and an old aluminium builders bucket or old 20 ltr oil can with the top cut off is good for the base - punch holes around the bottom, about an inch or so from the base, then find a bit of mesh that fits in half way up. You set your fire on that, the gap underneath makes the draft that you need to make the fire hot.

I was going to avoid saying what I am about but I thought that i should and then I will leave it and never mention it again, whether I am thought badly of and am given the cold shoulder...It might have better just let it lie...
I have not called or discussed anyone on here(on other parts of MSE or on my blog)so if that impression has been given it's wrong and I'm sorry because I liked talking with you all and being part of this thread and MSE in general.
I was looking never looking for self pity or making on I in a worse place than anyone else and I have taken on your advice and the support that has been given to me and I am even more positive than I was before...
I also appreciate that times are tough for everyone and will be even more in the future whether in work/out of work/ill/being a carer/looking after children and the keeping food on the table, staying warm and most importantly a roof over my head.
I was never out to cause trouble and I am genuine, not a troll.
And I have stayed away so you are able to have your thread as it is. though I only do the same as the rest of you...trying to be thrifty and ready for the future, sorry if you think of me in a poor way but I don't think I actually did anything wrong and still don't much know what actually caused the problems.
If it's any consolation you want to see some of the abuse I get on my blog and I never bite or respond to what is said about me and I leave all comments on the blog for all to see, even the negative one's, I never censor...Can't be fairer than that.
Take care everyone...It might have been better left unsaid but I though I better put everything in context...and no need to respond...
Hope you don't mind if I lurk as I love the support and tips given about your situations and lives...
BTW I only took the topic of the bedroom tax, CT and rent etc...to the other thread because it was more appropriate being discussed there and there were a few more opinions and information on that part MSE, so that way, I was not filling this thread talking about it and repeating myself...no other reason."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Just a thought Fuddle - ask on Freecycle for any unwanted BBQ grills - lots get chucked because peeps buy new. If you have a stash of them you can have as many little stoves going as you need!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

Fuddle that looks great, good job.
Loved !!!!!!, remember my mums kitchenette cabinet it was her pride and joy she loved it.
My Granny used to wear a scarf like that when she was cleaning her house.
She was always either hanging out the windows cleaning them or on her knees at the front door scrubing the step.
I have Nella Lasts War book to read tonight Thanks to PAH for sending it to me.:TC.R.A.P. R.O.O.L.Z. Member. 21 Norn Iron deputy h

It's a beautiful day here, just like summer should be.
I was buying some veg and eggs from a roadside seller, fab produce for very little money, and got talking to the guy whose wife sells what he grows, and he was saying how the maize forecast is very bad, he said figures and stuff which basically boiled down to farmer's only getting a fifth of their produce and a lot of it will end up as animal feed as it's so poor. We also talked about bees and the ice flows melting...deciding that things could get worse...it was quite deep for an over the garden fence chat, as we considered whether it could be the end of the human race eventually, he thought sooner rather than later, and I said things go in cycles, and people would have starved not that long ago, which brought up the Irish potato famine...:o
Anyway, I have some lovely runner beans (he said they were not as good this year), some tomatoes (ditto) and the free range eggs. I forgot the yellow courgette because of us talking.
So fellow gardeners it's rough everywhere it seems, even with seasoned and experienced gardeners/farmers.
I had my annual haircut on Tuesday and I must say I look a little more human, although I don't have as much grey as I used to have...is that possible???
And I don't iron either, it's against my religion.:D
