Hello :) I posted on here about a week ago saying things were going to be tough in our house as my husband would possibly be made redundant. Well, he was made redundant on Friday last week

He is looking for work and in the meantime we have applied for benefits, but hope he will find a job before we need them. I work part time, but we also have a 10 month old baby and no family nearby so we can't afford nursery fees :(

Luckily we have a well stocked pantry and freezer so that should see us right for a bit. I am very crafty so am currently making curtain liners for all the windows in the house to try and save on our oil bill this winter (last winter it was almost £1,000:eek:) as we can't afford to spend that sort of money again, but need the house to be warm as we have a little one here. Am also making draught excluders using some upholstery material my mam got me from work and am going to stuff them using odd socks and old underwear!

I have been getting cheap fleeces and blankets when I have seen them so we have a good stock of them in the house :)

Looking forward to joining in on here :) x

((Hippy mum &OH)) will think of more useful stuff once I've posted, I'm sure, but can you get any help with childcare costs? Ask at your Childrens centre, ask someone to find out all the help you're entitled too.

Feeling quite down. I have been directed to a blog comment where I have been labelled as having jealous eyes over someone's inheritance and that I turned nasty towards a poster because I have very little in my life.

I need a rest from forums and certain posters - past and present. It comes to something when you get grief for daring to suggest that an individual should not hide money in order to receive benefits. For what it's worth, I have a very rich life, I'm very proactive and a positive person.

I bow out for a little bit.

((Fuddle)) do not be put off here by someone petty enough to whine about the truth & sneaking around trying to upset you. you are a star, you have been down & are jolly well getting up again. I'm proud of you for having the courage & strength to say what so many were thinking.

Fuddle get back here right now - you never sound jealous and you work damned hard to keep your family going despite what life has thrown at you. I don't get mad often but I am seething now. We all know you as well as we can on here and think you are a great person who gives support to anyone who needs it.

And BTW you only said what a lot of people were thinking and probably about to post!

    Hear hear & totally agree!

& we need to find out work is & how the girls got on at school!

Right will try and remember who I want to reply to

1 - Byatt healing on its way but no promises, wish I could

    2. Thank you Mrs LW and others, I bought paper compressor (paper log maker) in sale in Arg@s last month down for £25 to £5 and its brilliant so will soak the shredded paper and shape them.

    3. Pooky sending healing vibes, poor you, big hugs also

    4. Fuddle please don't leave no matter what this person (shrewd idea who, sure many of us have, but I might be totally wrong of course and the person will be reading this... good ) says to you, if they want to try and hide their inheritance from benefits they are in for a shock as courts or/lawyers have to report probates to tax and I read somewhere to benefits agency now as well, so if they try it they will find one day all their benefits are stopped and they are taken to court for benefit fraud, they will not be able to talk their way out of it by saying oh poor me I am ill and didn't realise I had to report having an inheritance and if this person is being so nasty to you then its what they deserve. They are getting stricter with benefit fraud so if this person was to do this they might find they end up in prison and if say this person lived in HA or council property they would have to either pay their rent while they were inside out of that inheritance or lose their home, then when they come out would end up in some hostel somewhere, not a nice thought but their choice.

  • Fuddle come on girl - suspect someone has a guilty conscience. I think I may have been the bad guy there but stand by what I said and how I feel - if I recall you were very supportive over quite a long period of time.
Please continue to post - I love reading about your OS life, your wee family's struggle onwards and upwards - you sound like a lady brimful of character and I take my hat off to you.
So looking forward to hearing how the job goes
