Sorry for you trouble Hippyman, you will get lots of support here :).

Can you preppers tell me please - is this a good deal, and if anyone has bought from here are these particular lamps ok?

    laters! (off to work shortly)
:) It seems identical in all respects but having a silver lid as opposed to a black one to the one I bought yesterday and returned today to another store. Except that other store had it at £24.99.

Mine was pants; the advertised one minute of winding (and I was using the kitchen timer to make sure I got it right) produced 2-3 mins of good light and then about 30 mins of dim light about on a par with the LEDs glowing on my router. So, you could have used the glow to find the lantern but it wouldn't have actually lit anything.

Despite the externals being identical, and the description matching exactly, it may not be the same thing at all, of course. HTH.

Hippy mam - sorry to hear about the job loss.

PAH - yes, shredded paper will be fine for paper bricks.

Byatt - hugs for you and pooch.

I'm in bed.... :(. Have been for 24 hours now. I get this utter exhaustion now and then that knocks me sideways, my joints ache and I think my internal thermostat has broken. I know come the morning I'll be a bit wobbly but basically ok but it feels like such a waste of time being Ill. Luckily DDs are here so they've made sure DH hasn't tried doing anything silly - he just wants to be helpful but normally this leads to him doing to much and taking a tumble.

My mum called earlier to tell me how much stuff is going up in the supermarkets, she actually apologised for pooh-poohing my store cupboards. But then she said something about me being middle aged (at 39???) so I'm going to sulk.

Feeling quite down. I have been directed to a blog comment where I have been labelled as having jealous eyes over someone's inheritance and that I turned nasty towards a poster because I have very little in my life.

I need a rest from forums and certain posters - past and present. It comes to something when you get grief for daring to suggest that an individual should not hide money in order to receive benefits. For what it's worth, I have a very rich life, I'm very proactive and a positive person.

I bow out for a little bit.

Fuddle get back here right now - you never sound jealous and you work damned hard to keep your family going despite what life has thrown at you. I don't get mad often but I am seething now. We all know you as well as we can on here and think you are a great person who gives support to anyone who needs it.

And BTW you only said what a lot of people were thinking and probably about to post!

Don't let them win by going, just take a little breather, sleep on it, and come back fighting. Just amazing what some people do with their time, trying to stir up friction.

You don't have to justify yourself to anyone. Least of all unknown people on the internet.

Just ignore, take my word for it, this too will pass. :A

edit, just to add, I understand the knee jerk reaction to seeing the blog comment, because I'm the same...however, after a short while, I calm down and carry on as normal...;)

Sorry to read that a blog post has had that impact on you.
I've always seen your posts as interesting and helpful, they frequently show a joy in life and how to tackle its challenges that is truly refreshing.

Fuddle - please don't let others get you down like this. I echo what Ginnyknit said too.

  • Hey FUDDLE - don't leave us, we need you. If there are people disagreeable and spiteful enough to pass comment without knowing you and how hard you try in all things they are to be pitied, you however, are worth so much more than letting their stupidity and rudeness upset you so much. It's so easy to stir dissent just because you can, to do and say these things on purpose to upset makes them despicable and cowardly. Call their bluff pet, carry on as normal and ignore the childishness for what it is. We value you on this thread, we know how much you have grown in confidence and competence, how very much you always try to do things right, don't let them rock your boat. Chin up kiddler, you can do it Cheers and love Lyn xxx.
