Just asking if anyone knows how to rescue a rather large pan full of solid marmalade. Ooops

Soak it in hot water and biological washing powder. Seems to shift nearly anything burned to the bottom of my saucepans, I'm quite forgetful.....HTH0

Fuddle - a kelly kettle is well worth the money! Amazing things - so quick and simple. My son has one and I keep plotting ways to pinch it.
I was at a spinners guild meetup yesterday and it was amazingly peaceful, sitting in a tiny village hall way up in the hills with swallows and buzzards outside and a roomful of ladies with spinning wheels and knitting inside. Very peaceful watching people spinning - and some of them were knitting it as they went along. Loads of sheepy smelling fleeces for sale and generally a lovely timeless feeling as if it could have been any period in history really.0 -
GQ - I smirk. I have 35 boxes of teabags .

A!di's version of Pimms is called Austins, and it's lovely - I mix it about 1:5 with cheapo lemonade - if the lemonade is straight from the fridge it's delish and very refreshing. I don't bother with fruit or mint if I'm just drinking it with OH (or on my own with the cats!). It sometimes goes down to less than £5 a bottle .. I confess to stocking up a bit last year. It keeps fine!
Thank you for that TC...when you initially buy booze it is a big decision on cost but if it can then be made to last like we do with food it isn't too bad I suppose...until they decide to add that levy they keep talking about..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. We call water, council pop.
Nella books? Are they OS related?
I've never had a pimms. Should it go on my bucket list?
Off to bake in a minute. It's time to tackle the scones  wish me luck! Also bought whipping cream not clotted. I hope it won't spoil them (clotted was £2.25, whipping £1)
Also raspberry and coconut cupcakes and egg and cress sarnies. Sometime amongst that I have to make myself look presentable.
Have to pack today too as tomorrow we're off to the west coast of Scotland :j0 -
Nella Lasts Diary is a book of her diary she kept through the war - she was very very like you fuddle, you should get a copy. I read her 20 odd years ago before she was famous and I never forgot that book.0

I haven't yet!
I am sure it will be fine...your tea sounds lovely...
Fantastic! A deserved change of scenery for a few days...it should do you all good and set you up for the winter and colder days ahead."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

We could be frying eggs on the roads, today. And if the price of cooking oil goes up, we may well have to. (At this point GQ wanders off looking for a nice dark-coloured motor parked in full sun.......)
GQ that's an Aussie tradition! Seriously, on any given slow-news-scorcher-of-a-summer's-day there will be a news item about how long it took to fry an egg on either the pavement or on a metal manhole cover set into the pavement. Approximately 20 minutes at 37C in direct sunlight, if I recall correctly.
Am I the only person in Britain who finds it annoying that the weather bulletins don't quote the percentage humidity? I know yesterday was very humid - I could feel it - but I'd like to know by how much. This morning, sitting out on the patio in the shade of the house, I can smell the water in the air. (FWIW, having grown up in a dry climate, I reckon the humidity here adds between 5 and 10 degrees to how hot a day feels.)"Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. Morning all
Have woken to find that we had yet another power cut in the night... what's going on?!! But on the bright side it looks to be another sunny day so it will be onwards and upwards with the washing mountain, and, if I can summon the energy, to see what clutter can be cleared and banished to the CS. We are in danger of being engulfed in carp if I don't take action soon :rotfl:
Fuddle - your tea sounds delicious - and the whipping cream will be fine with the scones
GQ - my dad used to call water Adam's Ale, I'd forgotten all about that!
PAH- I hope you're feeling better now. Take care of yourself!
