A coupla different friends have Kelly kettles and I've played around with them. I think they're fabulous and they're on my Wants list. They're pretty darned quick and they can boil water with a ridiculously small amount of rubbishy fuel like twigs, grass, pine cones and twists of newspaper.
Think you're looking circa £45 so don't know how many boilings you'd have to make to break even on your usual method.
Howsomever, there is the other side to it that if the power was off, you could boil water for washing dishes and small persons with minimal hassle and they can be taken out on family picnics.
Did I read you mentioning that your OH was an outdoorsy type; would he be pro-Kelly? Oh, worrying thought, would he take it off fishing with him? Perhaps you should have his'n'hers Kelly kettles.........;):pEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Fuddle - I don't know how much a kelly kettle would cost but it might be cheaper to just boil the kettle once in the morning and pour the lot into a vacuum flask for use throughout the day.
Evie xx
Kelly kettle costs around £40. That's an awful lot of cuppa's to make i worth my while huh? I do boil the kettle once in the winter but I've been quite lax with my electricity. I think it's a case of giving up because I'm annoyed at having to use the tumbler so much in this summer weather. I have a debt this summer with electricity. I've never gone over my usage with the electric, gas yes but never electric0 -
I probably like the Hairy Bikers because they sound a bit like me. I agree with the hygiene issues though, all that straggly hair flailing aboot and fondelage of the chin growth. Yukky. To be honest I've not watched them before but I'm a sucker for a diet programme.0

Thanks all, am fine honestly, just annoying. I had cooked roast lamb and eat some and its stayed down even though tummy not to happy but smelled so good. Will just keep a note and see if it continues.
Kidcat no cola in we never drink it.
I did also eat 10 peas from a few pods I found in garden when I went out to see what was growing in back, after finding the savoys and carrots in side - there is now just celery and Nasturiums out there which are so colourful (some photos on my blog). I found I have about 50 green tomatoes all hidden among the foliage but also found some yellowing leaves so not sure if blight has hit. I have removed those leaves and will see how it goes. I just hope they turn red as last year I only had a dozen tomatoes but they all stayed stubbornly green.
I also as the heat had dried it picked lavender from first bush that flowers early, other one still in flower. So will get round to making some lavender bags - not touched the sewing machine so these will be good practise.
Pops I have a tower fan - 4ft high which stands facing corner of bed and its on now, unless things really get tight I will continue to use it. I cannot say its expensive to run as some weeks I have it on 24/7 but not noticed a big increase in electric - don't quote me on it, I will check it and see.
Right going to have a bath been having showers all week.
Finger is throbbing now, was numb till now.

I imagine an ordianry kettle would work quite well outside - obviously not an electric one :rotfl: One of the light weight aluminium ones? Off to borrow OH's camping kettle and experiment
we have an old canal at the end of the street thats been filled in and made into a walkway and is full of bits of wood (and blackberries hopefully)
Bought Ds a butty box for £4 from Mr A, very snazzy black jobbie with sections, perfect for putting all the bits and bobs in so he can make up his wraps fresh at lunchtime.
Too hot here today, thought I was going to fade away at one point, but DGS and I had a pleasant day in and out of the garden, eating peas from the pod - DD loves that, she thinks its so special that grandma taught him to open the pods, not so impressed with Grandad teaching a 2 year old how to drive though :T Lucky he can't reach the pedals.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Yes he's an outdoorsy type of bloke but I dare say I've bombarded him with enough of my toughie induced ideas. I think the thought of paying £40 for a bit of tin that doesn't even work unless it's stuffed wi twigs might just tip him over the edge and into the store cupboard without writing down what he's nicked!

Sorry, watching Alan Partridge - daft 'alf hour in my house0 -

Sorry, watching Alan Partridge - daft 'alf hour in my houseStainless steel, m'dear, stainless steel. Maybe Santa's elves will bring you one if you wish hard enough. I'm adding random change to a jar as a way of sort of saving for a Kelly without actually spending money on one.
:o:p Actually, that came across as a bit bonkers. My neighbours are throwing glass bottles off the top of the Tower down into the car park at the moment, you may like to know. Those Newtonian moments which we all know and lurve..............

LMAO.
Gosh darn, I'm always holidaying in Forn Parts. Wasn't there some magical Irish place which only appeared at certain times? Someone help me out here, I'm sulking because I'm too skint for Pimms and eating basics tinned pineapple as a consolation. What is the critical temp at which homo saps melt? I already feel as if I would be in the red zone on a car temp gague. Urgghhhh!
ETA Pops, call centre staff are prob on NMW or not much above it. It doesn't pay very well. But it's indoor working with no heavy lifting, and I've done worse jobs.
Its OK GQ I'm too skint for Pimms too, but I wasn't paying for it and it tasted all the better! Bit surreal to be surrounded by DH's family discussing their next very expensive holidays though.
Have been forced to watch X Factor by DD(7) who is now convinced she is going to practice singing for the next 9 years so she can go on it.0
