B&M and wilkinsons both have camping stuff reduced, one of them had a small camping stove.

Alcohol never goes off surely? Certainly not for decades I would have guessed.

Adl! do an own brand of PImms that is about £6 a bottle - I cant tell the difference and it lasts ages. :)

I have a shed in the garden with a day bed which pulls out to a small double in anyway - I call it my Hippy Hut, and I have things in it I'm not allowed in the house :D Like tie-dye cushions and owl dangly things.... :rotfl: That's where they are sleeping at the mo. It's a little damp til things warm up though. We have an outside loo which we put in when we did the B&B which is close by...so it's hardly roughing it - more like glamping! I'd sleep out there quite happily but the dogs won't come down near the chickens after falling victim to the electric fence... :(

Went into The Works today to see if they had something to read, and discovered they had the rest of Nella Last's books @ 2 for £5 :T
Cooked a massive curry for dinner, all veggie, some dal, rice, an okra and tomato curry, and made some spinach pakoras (they were very nice indeed) We had some FAB sauces from approved foods to go alongside, a Hot Lime sauce, and a Hot garlic nom nom nom.

Mum picked lemon curd to go in her sponge, and I used up the remains of some butter cream icing from earlier in the week - totally stuffed now!!!

Second batch of fudge was a sucess... :T So will see if I can duplicate tomorrow, or if it was a one off LOL!

Wasn't there some magical Irish place which only appeared at certain times?

Initially, I thought Brigadoon... but that was fictional and Scottish. However, Mike Scott of the Waterboys was Irish and he wrote
"I saw the rain dirty valley
    You saw Brigadoon
    I saw the crescent
You saw the whole of the moon"
Will that do till better info comes along:rotfl:

Like the idea of a looky-likey Pimms. My idea of heaven is a country garden, a group of mates and a constantly-replenished jug of Pimms with fruit and mint and ice in it............ Righty, must stop fantasing about cooling acoholic drinks and have a glass of Adam's Ale* and go to bed.

I'll give that pink salmon a try(Tesco have their own pink salmon in a very large tin for that price...)I nearly bought it today...

Its going to be a warm night, I have been known to diverse myself of bedclothes and...I used to run the large fan I have but now watching the electric, not sure I can run it...

What an admission three times I have talked to different energy companies and their call centre staff admit they cannot afford to use the gas CH except for approx 1-2 hours daily if very cold and they're selling it! They are also working earning a so called wage...

Just a note about running the fan. On my energy meter, my big 50w floor standing fan costs a half a penny an hour to run so if I run it all night its about 4p a night, well worth it!

A!di's version of Pimms is called Austins, and it's lovely - I mix it about 1:5 with cheapo lemonade - if the lemonade is straight from the fridge it's delish and very refreshing. I don't bother with fruit or mint if I'm just drinking it with OH (or on my own with the cats!). It sometimes goes down to less than £5 a bottle .. I confess to stocking up a bit last year. It keeps fine!

Don't know if you've used a hexi stove before, but they are good for boiling a cup or two of water. Good enough for a cup of tea or soup. Cooking on it is a bit more difficult as it can take a while and the flame is not controllable. A thin pan works best and a windsheild concentrates the flame better and improves heating time.

The hexi tablets makes the bottom of your pans black with soot, although rubbing a little neat washing up liquid on the base of the pan helps it wash off easily.
