There is a DVD of it, I had it but passed it to another OSer, can't remember who! It is well worth watching.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Morning All!

Persisting down here! had to laugh last night when a weatherman said
"Very hot everywhere tomorrow - except Wales" :rotfl:. He was not wrong! Although it is not really cold just thoroughly miserable - so we cheered ourselves up by cleaning the fish fryer out:D.

Nella Last is also Housewife 49, the prog with Victoria Wood playing Nella - available on YouTube I think.

There are a number of 'Mass Observation' books - this was a movement started in the 30's to get ordinary people to document their lives. Nella was just one of the contributors. They give a great insight into the real feelings of people at the time - very interesting. I think one was called 'We are at War' - they are all available on Amazon.

Hope the scones turn out well fuddle - don't worry if they don't they are another thing that do take practice! And the cream will be fine. Hope you have a good hols!

Stay nice and cool everyone (Except Kate, I know you are!) .

Mrs chip you do have an exciting time - cleaning out the chip fryer:rotfl: Glad your business is doing ok. I have been watching with bated breath to see how you fared.

Im having a lazy afternoon after running around after DGS since yesterday, had a lovely time though, he has been great all weekend. Planning the week but not many windows for doing much due to hospital visits. One worrying thing, the Housing assoc are coming on Thirsday to discuss fencing the gardens :j:j:j no more bl**dy hedges to drive me mad. OH obviously can't trim them(neighbour insists on his side being really high as he owns the house) I get the shakes for some reason and Ds is always at work. the worrying bit is wether they will actually agree to putting a drive on the front garden so if and when OH needs the wheelchair to get in and out I won't have to negotiate a grass verge, pavement and gate :( He did e mail them and state our case and got a favourable reply, after having rent off us for 25 years I think they have had enough of our money to warrant it.

Oh well off to put my feet up and watch rubbish on tv. Its pickling down here but humid, am expecting thunder any min. x

It's soooo humid here! Very annoying as I am refuse to use the tumble dryer but all the clothes I had on the horse now smell damp :( I've opened the windows but I fear I may have to rewash. It's threatening to rain so I don't want to put them on the line as I'm nipping out for a bit!

Back in work tomorrow after a few days off :( I would like to find a new job but I'm reluctant to move as I've been in my current job for 5 full years now and would be eligible for a payout if I was made redundant and maternity pay if I ever have children. A colleague always tells me that although the job sucks just remember the security. She is of course right...

Hope your trip is lovely fuddle :)

Back from Aldi and have never seen it so busy, the car park was heaving. Since it has only been open a few weeks they might regret not having a larger car park. Need to lie down now, it's sooooo hot! have been invited to a friend's for a roast dinner so no lying down for me.
I resisted the Austins but did get 2 spare watch straps, hope they fit my watch as the strap is on its last legs.

If you have Sky anytime plus Housewife 49 is on there think its through the Iplayer (ITV channel) so may be on the Iplayer for free too?

Finally got around to watching it a few nights ago and really enjoyed it :D

Having a bit of a storm here ATM washing is on the line lol typical!

I hope it cools it off a bit as I've a bowl full of cucumbers to pickle, two trays of shallots and more plums than you can shake a stick at :rotfl:

Just given my mildewy courgettes/squashes a seaweed feed to see if they'll start producing again they look a bit fed up :(

Hoping my tomatoes will ripen before blight gets here we have a reasonable crop all things considered this year but all bright green still!

Peppers and chillies are under attack though so not looking good there..small holes around the stalk on most of them would that be earwigs do you think???

Riddle me this oldstylers because I am tearing my hair out!

I've done 2 loads of washing and put it in the dryer (it's overcast and spitting with rain outside). It went in the dryer smelling very fresh and clean. On getting the washing out of the dryer, it smells like a mixture of feet and stinky cheese, it's bizarre! There's nothing else in the dryer, I'm baffled. I've got washing overflowing now, grrrr.

Shelley, was the washing sitting in the machine for a day or so before you got it out? I once left some sheets in the machine for about three days, when I pulled them out I sniffed them to see if they'd need rewashing but they smelled fine. Later, it took me ages to figure out that the nasty pong was coming from them drying on the radiator!

If yours had just been washed, though, I'm as baffled as you!

    Hi JP,

No, I washed it this morning and put it straight in. It's never happened before.

 That is so weird. Hopefully some wise soul knows what might cause it.
