Those tealight jars will mean that it is safe to use tealight candles and the colours will give them a nice glow...I may start and use them without waiting for a powercut. There is something welcoming about candles and warm.

Then again I still miss having an open fire and coke boiler...

Phew finally caught up! Am tempted by the wine, but having to buy a bin and a demijohn is putting me off.

DD finally produced a sample at 1.45pm, GP is 10 minutes away so it was a mad dash. We poured gallons of fluids in, I had taps running in kitchen diner and OH had her watering the plants, she is the most stubborn madam ever. :)

We then did a mad dash to the RSPB reserve (we have a membership) and managed an hour or so of feeding birds and watching wildlife.

DS8 still had meltdown at end and its clear that the ending of trips/treats is a big issue and will need lots of thought and experiment.

Popped into Mr A evening to buy yet more ice lollies (DS appears to be living on them) and picked up a few whoopsies,

Come the dark evenings I'll have my tealights on almost nightly pops. I have a large stock because of this and replace the bag once it's done, with a couple 100 sat there in case of emergencies. I also have 5 boxes of matches

Loved the Great BBO. Had both DD's down watching it. There were engrossed although the little one went to bed near the end as was too tired. I'm so keen to involve them in the fun aspects of OS when they're little. I feel the need to pass it all on to them. It's about life skills really I guess.

We're going to make an upside down cake for pudding tomorrow. :) The nice thing about the balloon whisk is that they can do some whisking when we bake. I felt the electric mixer kind of took the fun out of baking with the kids.

Had a bit of a grrrrrr experience before. Was on phone to sister. We were talking about the pension age and that we still had 35+ years to work. She shouted into her husband that I have 35 years to work and laughed. I heard him say 'she just needs to get to work full-stop'. He must mean as I'm a SAHM. :( I'm not at all lazy. I'm a hard worker, a provider and an organiser. I do a multitude of jobs each day for my family. I work dammed hard I just don't get paid. My DH supports us. What is their problem.

Anyway, it's their problem, maybe jealousy for whatever reason I don't care to know. Just grrrrrr.

Off to read pooky's blog now. I had a quick squizz before, I think she's a girl after my own heart ;)

Don't take it to heart Fuddle. I'd be grr too though.
My kids now want to do a bake-off tomorrow - I have work to do!!
DS desperately wants to make rum babas but I should be able to avoid that one given that I don't have any baba tins. Perhaps we'll do upside down cake and cupcakes.

    Fuddle ignore them...
You are doing the most important thing of all...giving time to your children. That cannot be emphised enough. They'll grow up quick enough.

You admitted to some problems regarding depression and anxiety, that is not easy and takes time to conquer.

You've also looked into and have plans for the future and will return to work(If there are jobs to take up)

You hard some hard times in recent years which you have admitted regarding losing your home.

You are not claiming any help from the State so not a drain on the system and look at all the skills you have learnt/are learning.

There are more positives there as far as I can see...

never really thought of tealights before but I am now...I have 16 of those tealight holders:)four of each colour.

BTW It's too easy to dismiss SAHM's...

Yes, two very good smoke alarms and a carbon monoxide alarm too...sometimes too sensitive.

Really nothing in my home(tempting fate)should catch fire and I will be around when using the tealights as I am always when cooking. The only time I sometimes leave the kitchen is when using the slow cooker...

A heads up for the knitters on here, the Innocent drinks wooly hat fundraiser has started. Here's the link http://www.innocentdrinks.co.uk/bigknit
There are patterns on there for simple designs and I'm sure that there are more around for more complicated hats. A lady at knit and natter today had knitted elephant ones that were fab.

I bet you have more skills than sister and husband put together and are nicer person to boot.

The rolls ended up edible even if they did not look good.

Next time I will make sure I have cornflour and the right type of butter and make sure there is not too much liquid. Might chicken out and use breadmaker before trying to make bread by hand again so I get my confidence back.

DDs bought me a dvd called "The Help" for my birthday and we have just watched it. It was incredible , sad, thought provoking and funny.

    Pops

    The tealight holders are lovely.
