I hate the JC's too SmileyT(they're worse now than when I last dealt with them but they were starting to get difficult)and they've never been much help to me in the past(and no it's not because I have an attitude, you couldn't get anyone more easy going and friendly)I've jumped through all the hoops over the years and done everything I am supposed to including numerous work programmes and placements.

In their eyes I am probably still young...age is a factor but also health. Most of those who know me know that I am not "Fit for work"(even people who meet for the first time can tell)that my health conditions are likely to get worse and it varies from day to day(My Dr and Consultant)could submit medical evidence but we all know what's coming sooner or later...:(

It just adds to the worry of it all...If they leave me alone I manage reasonably well, I don't need the stress...

In one of the last sessions I had my own adviser...she kept forgetting my name, not a good sign...and that was with all my details in front of her and on the computer screen...

I should add that I know there are nice people working at the JC's too and many are having to follow the rules they are told to and probably dislike some of what they have to do...

As long as the veg isn't slimy the get is used! It will take hours in the SC though

Think it's ok, now I am using the SC I am likely to use the veg more often and not have to throw it out...I use a lot of frozen veg but fresh veg I can make two or three meals out of it even if it's prepared and at £1 a bag portioned out that's only approx 33p a portion...and being classed as needing DLA I am not supposed to prepare meals, it has to be basically stick in an oven or microwave and do as little as possible.

All my meals are simple these days...I'm quite excited...hot meals as the weather gets cold and winter returns...

I would think the veg are fine after one day, do the sniff and sight taste. :) I used to be a martyr to the dates but no longer...

The root vegetables take longer in a SC, but I just chuck them in with the meat and a little water. SC for 6 hours or so, and you have a meal. It's just trial and error. I finish off in the oven usually as I like the oven roasted taste, but that's just me. You can add dumplings and seasoning at this stage not at the beginning.

Yes, the water will make a gravy, you can add stock/seasoning to taste.

BTW you can make a chicken stock for soup with the carcase, I'm sure someone on here will give a good recipe.

Thanks for that I'll give it a go...I can look but unfortunately my sense of smell is not good:(but I'm quite good at deciding if something is off and I still don't stick to the dates(I'll risk a day or two afterwards)otherwise I could never get through everything. It's stored in a fridge at the right temperatures(likewise the freezer)the things I am more careful on is dairy products. Often I think the supermarkets and manufacturers are being careful. I have just had two yogurts(dated yesterday)they were fine...

    Hey Smiley

If you don't normally wear make-up or jewellery, then don't - the last thing you want is to feel not like "you" or uncomfortable. I tend to wear one "statement" thing, like a coloured belt or shoes, but as I have a head full of red curls, usually that's enough for me to be memorable! I need to find something formal for interviews - I never did "formal" for work as it's intimidating to some of the people I worked with, and I really am not a suit person!

Thanks. I used to have a head full of long red hair, but maybe a ginger crewcut will be enough to make me memorable :rotfl:. I need to dig out some clothes too (not that I normally run round nekkid, you understand !) as working with students means that I usually scuzz round in jeans/tracksuit bottoms and t-shirts.

I have to say, in my totally unbiased opinion, redheads are by far the most intelligent people around .... :D:D:D.

:DSmileyt, another redhead here. Albeit one turning white at a rate of knots. We're the Chosen Ones, don'tcha know. :p I used to have very coppery hair as a nipper and was driven nuts by being called Carrot-Top. Even as a youngster that hit my pedant-switch as I thought But they're green!

I don't wear make-up at all so I wouldn't wear it for interview as I'd be worrying about it. Be yourself, but tidier, is my motto.

    >>There are 25 mm in one inch, Byatt.<<

Thanks GQ, so why on learning that, do I still think 25mm is much bigger than an inch?! My own lopsided brain, thinks 25 is higher than one, this is what I mean about my dopiness these days...
:) It's a trial. My education bestrode the metricification period so I use both systems eccentrically. I used cm for small measurements because they divide more nicely than inches, and inches and feet for big stuff because I can visualise what they look like.:)

    Afternoon everyone,

Well today has not started off well as of tomorrow I am unemployed:(
I only work part time, but the lady who owns the place where I work said she is finding it hard to go on. I do feel for her she has owned this place along time, and I do understand.
So the budget will need to be tighten so tight.
My OH is retired, so this afternoon, will be spent going over everything to see what we can cut. So wish me luck.
    :( Awwww. :(

:grouphug::grouphug: Have a dodgy group hug on me. Or even two. Hang out here for TLC and support, we'll be here for you.

PAH, you're responsible for some tea being spilt. I realised I'd exceeded the multi-quote function so reached for a scrap of paper to make a note and over she goes. Only the dregs, fortunately, not a live cuppa.

My parents have what we nickname "Trigger's Bench" on their patio; like Trigger's Broom it has been refurbished so many times that it hardly has an original component. What Mum (the woodworker of the family) has discovered by trial and error is that beech is a lot better than pine (ie bedstead slats) for repairs. You can womble beech from the innards of sofas and divan beds. It is very very hard wood and stands up well to outside use with a coating of preservative. HTH.

I have been single-handedly trying to reflate the economy (people in Englandshire will have noticed the plague of moths from when I opened my wallet) by shopping. Hated it. Now have some jammies and a dressing gown in the sales. And, get this, there are NO stupid logos or cartoon critters on any of it. Gawd but I detest shopping so much if books or hardware stores aren't involved. Still, needs must when the devil drives.

;) I can now be taken back to hospital on the grounds that I have something decent to wear this time..............;)

After my Freecycle grumping-sesh this morning, came home to an email from someone who is the only person who wants something from the Great Shed Clearout which was offered 2 days ago. Shan't count my chickens until it's off the premises but it's hopeful. I have a love-hate relationship with Freecycle; love it when it works well and feel like throwing in the towel when you get your time wasted by idiots.

    Urgh, more tea needed. Nurrrrrrrsssssssssseeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!

And I used to have a short back and sides - maybe we got switched!

    I couldn't possibly comment - but I do love being a redhead!

Can I ask a question? If I buy mince fresh, freeze it then defrost it to make a meal, can I then freeze that meal containing the previously frozen mince?

I have made too much chilli, went to freeze it and alarm bells rang.

Yes you can freeze it once raw then once cooked.

The renewal quote was the only thing that made us laugh heartily in a long while :rotfl::rotfl:

:D Your comment made me laugh heartily also!!

Another vote for the specialness of redheads :T mine is fading and bits are greying but I'm still red in my head

smileyt when is your interview? Sorry I can't remember when you said it was. GQ's "be yourself but tidier" is fab advice. Good luck to everyone job-hunting, I know how tough it can be.

On an OS/MSE note: earlier this eve I bought posh T*sco sausages half price and YS crumpets & hot cross buns for pennies :money: Sadly not for my consumption (I'm veggie, and on a diet!!) but the bumpkin teens seemed pleased with my choice.

I hope everyone has a good evening x
