Hello everyone- still haven't caught up but wanted to say sorry that so many are having difficulties of one sort and another. Kidcat how on earth you cope I cannot immagine . If anyone deserves a good holiday it is you.
Forgive my ignorance Pooky but what is a Pie Iron ? Where from and about how much please ? The idea facinated me. Best wishes to all jac xx.0 -
Harry Potter is fab. It says it takes 3 hours but i reckon all in all we were there for 5. You do have to be a fan though.
Oh and I want an Ozpig <<stamps foot>>I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
ginnyknit I'd need a valium to let DH go up a ladder :rotfl: You're right though, I've let it all get on top of me. The patch isn't bad yet and yes, hopefully it will dry out. DH works in plant hire... I'd be much happier him in a cherry picker
extreme, no? :rotfl:
kidcat I'm loving your avatar0 -
Spent an extra £5 and have purchased a back pack that is slightly larger...all blue and no logo's on it.

Remind me not to put so much in it next time...I can pack it but you forget that you have to carry all that weight.
Better to make a few journeys than one big one.
I was struggling but was at the bottom of my street when a young girl(is that term offensive?)offered to help with my carrier bag and helped me home.
There are still some nice people in the world.
The bag will be very handy. I tried a shopping trolley earlier in the day, when full of shopping I think that too could be useful and I can use the handle to steady myself but empty I might tip it over...so I would still need my walking stick initially.
I found a cheap cigarette lighter today which can be refilled with gas for the store room and I got some flints(but I cannot see where the flints would go)so perhaps they cannot be replaced:mad: the gas, lighter and flints only cost me approx £3.50 so I don't think that was too bad...
Don't have to think about it now but it appears that I can have a lodger in my property so if I want to stay put and can put up with the change that will make it's another possibility, It would also mean another bedroom is being used so would help with the bedroom tax perhaps..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. I don't think that's offensive. I'm relatively still a young girl and I wouldn't be upset about that. Maybe the truth of it is that I'm no longer a young girl and would love to be called that
Nice bag pops and going to be invaluable. There's a certain amount of feeling independent and in control when you can get about and do your chores yourself. I love that I don't have to rely on anyone to get what I need to run my family. I have been without my car for about 2 months now, maybe more and I still don't regret it (ask me again in week 4 of the holidays!)
pops a lodger is a way to make ends meet. Hopefully it won't come to that as you need your store warehouse0 -
Fuddle,
I don't usually worry about how to refer to someone but some people do get upet(Lady, girl or woman)Just about everyone is younger than me these days
I was quite pleased with the back back...
Been looking at the meat and if small portions are used, slightly cheaper cuts, its not too expensive and can be stretched over a few meals.
I am determined to make more use of that slow cooker..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Once he seemed more ready we only had a few accidents and now never do. Unfortunately it seems boys have this problem frequently....
It does seem to be boys more, I agree. Saying that, DS1 was dry at night fairly easily, but my mum says her baby sister was still wetting at 10 yrs when mum left home. Wet bed again this morning, hey ho. But I am really determined not to buy pull ups unless we're away, & even then I'd rather use the washables. He needs to be thinking of himself as someone who wets the bed occasionally (once a week is occasional compared to every night) instead of a bedwetter... He just sleeps so soundly that he doesn't wake up to wee.
Good for you - I am in a similar situation with DD. She finished her GCSEs a month or more ago and has been off ever since. I thought she would be crawling the walls by now - but no. She has been quite useful at times and other times is sat on her bum watching DVDs and playing on the SIMS. When I went to Montreal she was paid housekeeper and did rise to the occasion then and she has done a bit of cooking. She is 16 tomorrow and so has been unable to look at work and we are away for 3 weeks from Saturday. She has just passed her Bronze Medallion lifesaving award and is going to do the NPLQ (National Pool Lifeguarding Qualification) in August. Her swimming teachers have more or less promised her a job from September if she gets the NPLQ.
She gave me "mummy vouchers" for mothers day - (i.e. a voucher to cook dinner, do hoovering, ironing etc) so I am using those with good effectHoovering one will come into play today.
I am so busy that I haven't much time to do my usual preserving of fruit that I do at this time. I thought i might get to fruit farm and just buy the stuff, freeze it and jam it later but, at the mo, I haven't even got time for that. Ditto the carrots - though that is a great idea. My tomatoes are dying - all the leaves are yellowing - I wonder if it's blight.
This week we are having "Freezer pot luck" for tea. Trying to use up stores of this and that. Today it is pies (rabbit for me - yum yum), with roasted older-than-it-should-be veg. OH is here next week (he couldn't get 3 weeks leave, so it's me and the kids in New York on our own next week :j) but he can fend for himself. It's funny but when I am left here with the kids and he's away, people leave me to get on with it. But I bet next week he'll be invited here, there and everywhere for dinner. He already has one invitation. And yet he's more than capable of looking after himself (and us, often).
Right, I'd better get cracking - have a good day all
Well, he went to bed 'just after midnight' & hasn't berrated me for my cruel behaviour, so I don't think he's found out yet. He still has done hardly anything today, took the blanket off the line & threw some of DS2's wet (washed!) sheets at the rotary & pegged where they met the line. So I took them off when I got in & put the rest of the washing out & put them back & they were still out when the rain started again at 7.45 when I was convincing DS2 to take his inhaler & brush his teeth... He has washed up just now, but there's still too much stuff in the way for me to make bread easily. It's more tiring than coming home knowing there'll be nothing done as no-one's been home.0 -
Possession wrote: »Aargh sports day was cancelled again today but they've just uncancelled it as weather has got much better. But it starts in 15 mins and DH has gone to Mr T in the car. I'd imagine lots of parents won't be able to get there at such short notice, but the forecast is bad for the rest of the week so I think they wanted to grab the chance to do it if they could. DH should make DS's efforts as he is later but might miss DD. : ( No doubt that will cause trauma later, LOL!
DS2's sports day was postponed from the week before last, to tomorrow. KS1 in the morning & KS2 in the afternoon. Work are letting me have the afternoon off, & someone else has the morning off to see her DD's last sports day at that school as they're moving (but staying at work). So, DS2's school sends out an email this afternoon that I like many other parents didn't actually get till this evening to say they're now having it all in the morning. So, once again I can't go. It's ok though, as Errant husband can go & is taking the girlfriend .becca-2012 wrote: »My DD is nearly 8 and still has accidents. I found that the pull ups seem to make her worse. She sleeps very deeply, I wake her up at about 10 or 11 when I go to bed and she will have sometimes already had an accident. Unfortunately I have tried everything I can cheaply at home si the next step is the doctors and possibly a sensor alarm thingy.
When we saw the community consultant paediatrician last year, he said he'd be happy to prescribe medication to stop DS2 bedwetting, but it's short term only. I said no as I worried about side effects, thank goodness as when I was discussing it with the nurse practitioner, she said there's no side effects, but the child MUST not drink after the specified time. I pointed out there is no way I'd be able to enforce that with DS2, so he will not be having the medication. I do know people who've children have had the alarms, & it takes a while but they do help.0 -
Thanks spiky, is a complete nightmare with all the washing but I wouldnt want to try medication. She is getting better but progress is slow and sometimes i feel like we are going backwards. Will give her another 6 months and then give the alarms a shot:jWeight loss 0/18 lbs.

KIDCAT! - I have weak lungs too and used to get pneumonia, chest infections, flu, pleurisy - anything chesty and I got it. Usually at least twice! I don't any more - apart from swine flu but it was mild and only lasted a week.
So what I would do now if I were you pet, is buy a good tonic like Metatone. Take it until the bottle is finished. Also read up about vit D3, then go onto Amazon and price it. I take 2400iu daily, have done for 18 months, and I'm still here. (not sane, but still here).
Don't go outside if you can possibly help it - and if you have to go out at night use a scarf over your throat and mouth. It sounds fussy and silly but this is what you have to do to beat this. Think Victorian invalid rather than tough cookie here! Sleep propped up on pillows, don't lie flat.
& as much as possible, avoid other peoples germs - ok, not so easy with the children, but wash your hands lots, take anti bacterial stuff to use if you're on a bus, don't shake hands...0
