MrsL welcome home :) I do like the ozpig. Thank you very much for that. Do you use it while you're in the garden at home at all. Could you boil the kettle on it or even make a stew, fry up food on it or heat up beans etc in time of no electric or gas. Outside, I understand that. :)

Thanks Byatt. I wish I hadn't done it now but I got my heckles up. Deep down I know I haven't caused that damp. My LL is lucky to have us in this house. You should have seen the state of it when we took it on. I don't bother my LL much at all. This is my home. Not all renters are take downs.

Have taken another delivery of store cupboard stuff this evening. I feel I may have *ahem* enough tinned pots & carrots & UHT milk & smash-type stuff now. Otherwise it's in danger of turning into a hoard.....
Also it makes my garage look like a Tesc* Value shop.

Totally agree. I have only been renting since 2008 but when I left my last place it was immaculate and better than when I took over. The LL (agent and owners) didn't want me to leave. Recently my latest LL said I was their best tenant, never any bother. If I leave this place it will be better than when I took it over. After leaving an immaculate house I had to start cleaning all over again here...:(

There are good and bad on both sides, but it's wearing being tarred with the same brush all the time. People have to live, it's their home after all, not just a money pot for LL's. We have to co-exist and both need each other.

Yes Fuddle, follow Byatt's advice and ignore this other poster. Some people think renters are just dumb and can't look after a property. That's why you have to report your concerns in writing with proof of postage to cover your back.

And if your husband is more assertive, then let him deal with it and make it clear to the LL that your husband is now in charge of this problem. If you're anything like me, you will be boiling inside and frustrated but unable to be assertive with the LL, which in turns leads to more frustration, etc. And we don't want that when you have a lot to deal with around the home as it is :)

Can I make a suggestion here, Fuddle you are getting in a tizzy and doing yourself no good - get the Oh to clear the gutters, dry the room out a bit - ie ventilation and hopefully the short hot weather we are due will dry it out and then you can see if you need to take the next step -contacting the landlord. As for the poster on the other thread -IGNORE IT - some people love to be smart ar**s and obviously that is one of them. Drying 2 lots of washing in a room isnt going to cause a major problem. So wait and see how it progresses for a few days. Im saying all this cos I dont want you making yourself poorly x

Other than that been a busy be again, next job sort the tinned food out so I dont end up with a mushy pea mountain :rotfl:
Clearing the junk to travel light
    Saving every single penny.
    I will get my caravan

Don't feel bad fuddle, houses are meant to cope with a bit of washing being dried inside. I had a really bad LL when i first moved out of my parents, stupidly I signed the tenancy agreement without getting anyone to look over it for me. So much of it was ridiculous and all they cared about was making money. My LL at my last property said he was sad to see me go! All i did was made sure the rent was paid on time and kept the place clean.

Now to find somewhere really cheap within distance of lego windsor and harry potter tours. Have clubcard vouchers for lego and was thinking would drop eldest two at Harrys for the day while I take littlies somewhere else. Then we can all do lego together to finish.

Apologies if you are already aware but Legoland is quite close to Dorney where Olympic rowing will be taking place so if you are going during the Olympics it might be worth checking if there are any events on when you will be going to Legoland.
