It's free to load and you check your balance online, but not sure it's the best to use.. I currently use NW Credit card (I only use it to travel to Europe, don't like/use credit cards in general). No fees at all and exchange rate is quite good.0

Loads immediately and can use the money immediately. I always did it on my travels and always asked for a spare one cos I always lost one in drunken happiness

Its quite a bit away from being the best card, in Europe or indeed anywhere.
The Travelex Cash Passport Globe is a much better card, with lower charges.
Caxton charges 2.75%, Travelex charges 1.49% with no additional charges.
And thats just pre-paid cards. 'Normal' cards can offer even better rates.
The MetroBank Debit Card is the best card available at the moment.
Or the Halifax Clarity Credit Card.0 -
It's difficult to give you a precise answer as you don't say where in Europe you would be using it or which currency the card would be denominated in.
In terms of being the best card for use in Europe I would tend to agree only if -
a) the card was denominated in euro
and
b) you were only going to use it in countries that used the euro as their main currency.
Others may argue that the FairFX card is better but it down to how you intend to use it in terms of cash withdrawals.
If you were planning to use the card outside of the currency it is denominated in then you may as well use a Clarity card as suggested by WelshSun above.0 -
i am going to Italy if that helps0

It is 2.5% these days.0 -
The amount of time spent creating this thread could have been spent simply reading the T&Cs of the card....0

In that case a Caxton or Fair FX euro card would be ok.
The Caxton works put better if you make atm withdrawals of under about €200 at a time (with no cost for doing so) whereas the FairFX works out better if you withdraw €300 ish or more as the slightly better exchange rate when loading the card is enough to cover the atm charge which I think is €1.50 a time.
The main benefit is you can purchase euro up front at a set exchange rate although of course if the rate goes against you then you lose out!0 -
so which one would be the better card to use and is it easy to load0
