Caxton FX

so which one would be the better card to use and is it easy to load
It depends how you plan to use it. I have the Caxton FX because I tend to take out 100 euros or so at a time from the atm fairly frequently. If I was using it to buy goods and just an occasional large cash withdrawal, I may have chosen the Fair FX. TBH I don't spend that much when on holiday as we go AI and the difference is very small.0 -
It is 2.5% these days.
I pay 2.5% but I see the fee is listed as 2.75%:

Is there a more up to date list of fees available somewhere?0 -

This is the same reason I prefer Caxton over the other cards mentioned. I don't like carrying a lot of cash on me so I would rather take out €50-100 at a time. You can check your balance and top up using SMS (though there will be network fees for this) or online.
As you say, the difference between the best cards on a typical holiday spend of €500 is only a few pounds. I really don't know why some people on this forum get so worked up about currency cards.
Having a spare card and keeping it safely locked away in the hotel is a good idea.0 -

I think that 2.75% is right for now. I obtained my info from this out of date page.0 -

For the same reason why people used to use their Nationwide debit card and now they use Metro Bank and Halifax Clarity. They spend the same money whether they have the Clarity or a Prepaid card....but you wouldn't advise them to get a worse CC or Debit card, now would you?
You might spent 500 euro on your holiday, but others might spend a lot more and often.
Yours appears just a patronising statement. This is a website dedicated to saving money, perhaps you would do well to remember it.0 -
This 2.5% and 2.75% is this only if you buy at a shop
Also if i have money left how much will they charge to transfer it back to my bank account0 -
just looked at website and you can only start with loading £500.how soon can i load more on it.
and can i wait to lock in rate or do i have to do that when i have ordered the card0 -
You can load more on the card as soon as you get it and activate it.You get the rate that is current at the time you order. So you can pick the right moment! I'm waiting for the right moment to load mine for my holiday. Hoping to get better than the 1.2565 euros that it hit yesterday, before August 22nd.0

Caxton can be frustrating because you have to top up with a significate amount i.e. £150. I didn't quite have that much and I couldn't top it up. Very frustrating.0

well i have now got me caxton card and have loaded but loaded it at different times and have got 2 different rates
my question is is this right?
i thought when you loaded the card you locked in the rate but i could be wrong as i normally am lol0
