My identification tick is now in place. All I had to do was follow the instruction in the Default Thread Subscription Mode and make sure the "no emails etc was showing. This means that everything has returned to normal.
It certainly makes you wonder how many hundreds possibly thousands of members have had their user features changed. If it is thought worthwhile, maybe this could be considered by Martin to have a highlighted note on every thread advising what individuals should do.
The alternative is for endless streams of posts asking for and receiving explanations thus clogging up the system.
Apart from that, there is the courtesy to fellow members thing. I would hate someone to be thinking bad of me for not replying to a post I'd entered, just because I had no way of either remembering where it was, or finding it. Again, this is not critisism, merely an observation.
Thanks again to those who took time to explain. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hi can anybody help me please, since the last upgrade or what ever they did recently on this site, my account is behaving odd.
I no longer get my threads building up in subscribed threads in Quick links and I get no little icon next to my thread in any section, ie I put this thread in under the Tech Stuff section and whereas before I would easily pick it out as it had an icon next my thread, now there is nothing and I have to carefully look for it, not so bad on the day you put the thread on but more difficult as the days go by. I find to find my latest threads I have to seach for myself like I would for somebody else and then I can see mine or their latest threads, not ideal. It is as if MSE no longer recognises me after I enter each thread. Is there a setting that could be altered or something?
I have changed nothing and I am always logged on. I have tried logging in and out and I have contacted MSE "contact us" but had no reply yet.
Any ideas whats is going on? Can you help me solve this one please?0 -
Go to your User CP and set it to "No e-mail notification" Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

User CP, Edit Options, Default Thread Subscription Mode = "No e-mail notification"
Thanks espresso, I see it is on "No e-mail notification" already but I am not sure if someone has done that for me (if that was the cause) from the MSE site in response to my email to them yesterday because the threads are now appearing again from just a few minutes ago and have the icon but they definitely were not working correctly this morning.
The funny thing is, though, that now this thread has been added to my "subscribed threads" but the 2 or 3 I did over the last few days are missing, ie it has all my old ones followed by this one. Is there a way to get them back on track as it is handy to see old ones in the "subscribed threads" list and be able to check things occasionally? Also at the moment I am still adding to those threads but have to keep hunting them down as they are not on the list.0 -

If you can find them, you can manually add them to your subscribed list by clicking on the Thread Tools at the top, when the thread is displayed. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Just added a bit to one of my recent threads and it then added that one to my "subscribed threads". Its like its getting its memory back as to who I am but still a couple missing from last few days, I suppose I could add to them to get them recognised too if there is no correct way.
Do you think it was that email setting that caused it? As I say I am not sure whether someone did something for me from MSE or even whether that email setting was ever different from what it is now.0
