Over the last 5 years or so I have only won a few £50 prizes, since they started the £25 prices I receive a few of them and never anything above.

Best ever was 2 £500 prizes in the same month (20 years ago) I also won £300 that I didn't know about until the reinvested prize money won and I wrote to NS pointing out that a mistake had been made and I did not own any bonds with the number that had won the £300, they informed me that I had won the £300 a few years earlier, either they didn't send the prize notification or it was lost in the post.

This month we had 2 x £25 wins.

over the last 5 years the number of winnings has plummeted for us even though we have the same amount of holding.

Are there any figures as to how much is in there from everyone? Where does the money go? What happens if we all decide to remove it around the same time?

Parents have about 5k in there for last 3 months, had 4 £50 wins in that time. I have £50 in there and have no wins :D
  • I have 1 premium bond and have won the million pound prize sixteen times. how lucky is that. this is a great rate of interest and I recommend that you all win the million pound prize.

in reality, i have £40 holding (given to me when I was born). I won £50 once.

I won £1000 a few years back (and a few of the small prizes) when the prize fund was much better. As the rate dropped I decided to quit while I was ahead and put the money elsewhere.

Overall, this thread demonstrates why PB's are quite a poor investment.
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:
  • bought £2000 about 4 years ago and won £25 only 2 years ago.

will not be putting in more money- cos its rubbish investment and from everyone else experience i dont think i will get it back, never mind any additional return

Whilst I agree that PBs do not give a good return ATM it is well worth having a few just for the very slight chance of winning a worthwhile prize, you have to be in it to win it.

It's nice to be in with a chance of winning once a month even if that chance is very slim.

Only fair to say lot's of other savings accounts do not actually give a fantastic return anyway.
