In 2001 I won £1,000, had around 13k invested but think at the time the max holding was 20k.

It was a nice finding out by getting a cheque unexpectedly through the letterbox, better than getting the email notification. I was out of work at the time!

For a two year period, my wife, my late father and I all held the maximum (my wife and I were renting, between house sales and thought it might be worth a dabble*.)

So that's £60k's worth, for two years.

The biggest individual win was £50.

The winnings IN TOTAL for the two years - for all three of us - was £950.

    *erm, it wasn't.

:( I'm "hoping" my 17k gives me something substantial to put towards a deposit to a new house.

Whilst it's possible, it is certainly unlikely that you'll end up with more than the c.£500 per year (net) that you could get in a savings account.
