Ebay & people "requesting" feedback
Comments
-
There will always be sellers/buyers that do leave feedback and others that don't. That's just the way it is. Therefore, over time your feedback rating will increase. All the time eBay allow feedback to be voluntary you have no right to expect it after each transaction.
Personally I find that most users do leave feedback at some point. Some choose to do it daily, others weekly, monthly and so on. It seems pointless to email sellers and hassle them about feedback when it isn't a compulsary part of the transaction.-->♥<-- Sugar Coated Owl -->♥<--

when you are asked to sign a petition? when you are asked for a donation for charity appeals?
If you have ever done anything that involves going door to door, or asking somebody in the street, to spare a minute to write on a petition or spare a bit of change to help with a charity (no matter how worthy the cause) you will know that there are many people in the world who do find this kind of unasked for interuption to their lives an imposition or just down right rude, and many of them will respond accordingly. That's just life.
E-mail is no different. Some people see any form of unwanted/unasked for e-mail (i.e. unsolicited) as spam, pure and simple. Just because you don't doesn't mean that someone else isn't entitled to hold a different opinion and respond accodingly.if nobody gave feedback and had the same attitude as that surely the whole thing would fall down, i mean as a seller how would you be able to sell if you had no feedback?
I agree with you that it does go against the spirit of eBay,however we live in a free world, and it is up to the individual what they do.
and why wouldn't you WANT to leave feedback anyway?
Although I leave feedback for nearly all my transactions, there are a few that I don't. There may be situations where a buyer or seller has been particularly awkward, but not enough to warrent a neeutral or a negative, but by the same token, I don't feel in good heart that they deserve a positive. In those situations, if I were forced to give feedback, I wouldn't be able to give a positive, so ask yourself, if you are that seller/buyer in question, are you glad that I didn't leave feedback, or would you still prefer that I did?0 -
I don't understand why a polite request for feedback is wrong?
Because sometimes it's pester pester from the kids, can you do this from the OH, can you do that from work...etc etc. For me I always leave feedback when I have a minute so to be 'reminded' (politely or otherwise) by a buyer makes me feel like shouting 'YES - I KNOW - I'LL DO IT WHEN I'VE GOT A MINUTE - JUST STOP HASSLING ME'!

I sent a reminder to a buyer the other day to ask for feedback as I was concerned the package had not arrived as at least one of the three I'd sent at the same time had gone missing. This was nearly 10 days after sending it that the buyer was checking where it was - nice patient lady I must say and very honest as the first package turned up today (15 days after posting 1st class) even though I had sent her replacements.
I did not want to blantantly ask if it gone missing so sent their standard reminder and amended it and asked if the product was just what she was looking for and hoped it was useful and to contact me if she had any problems.
She then left feedback so I was happy that it had not gone missing too.0 -

lol frivolousfay, sounds like you had the same buyer as me! i got stung when i was a newbie seller by some right weirdo and i had naively left positive feedback by mistake, never again!
i now even state upfront in the listing that i will leave +feedback only after i receive it, sorry but once bitten, twice shy0 -
