How much can a day change in 10 hours.

DSD has lost her job at Stansted due to an employment agencies incompetence. She's spent the day in floods of tears.

DH's car window was smashed to get his laptop bag (fortunately the laptop was in his overnight bag which they didn't nick.) Still £75 for new glass:mad:

My gran has got a place in the nursing home down the road so I've effectively gained another dependant (who is more demanding than my 5 kids put together). She arrives on the day I get back from Spain (30th).

Phone call from DS1's school. They are not going to permanently exclude him as the teacher realises he could have handled things better. I still feel his card is marked. He's off school for a month now - not exactly great for his education.

Off to dish up dinner now.

    Hugs to all in need.

    Evening everyone :hello:

    Happy birthday to Essex Girl

    (((CCStar)))) - big hugs

I didn't get the job that I went for yesterday. I'm so annoyed as I thought that I was getting somewhere! It was mainly due to me leaving my last school half way through a term. In today's supply school, I made it blatantly obvious that I was looking for a job and asked the head whether there were any vacancies. They took my details, so at least they are aware and were keen to take my details too!

Not much else happening here. It looks like we'll have to contine to tighten our belts, which we can do no problems, but sometimes I feel the urge to spend. At least I'm getting into good spending habits............ We're spending hardly any money on food at the mo as we've got a freezer full of chilli con carne, spag bol etc. Tonight we're having Tuscan bean soup, which should be tasty AND filling.

    Take care all

    Hi everyone,

Paulie's Girl I have pm'd you re: underactive thyroid - I've had one for 20 years. If you are prescribed thyroxine make sure your doctor fills in a form so that you get a prescription exemption, it's one of the few conditions where you can get free prescriptions (includes everything even if it's not thyroid related).

    Happy birthday Essex Girl

Snoozer please could you tell us re the prescription excemtion- is it means tested....a friend is taking thyroxine and shw would like to know. THanks++

You can tell how erudite and educated Twink is, casually making mention of the Mr Kipling none of us were thinking about - very dry, very Joan Bakewell:p

Hello again all. I thought i would pop back as my earlier visit was a bit too quick. This afternoon i made lasagne and it turned out very nice indeed. It made approx 8 generous portions so i will save some for my ds when he comes around later.Ds 3 is tired and had a major temper tantrum. I am counting the minutes until bedtime.(I am also tired so dont really have the energy to deal with mega fits!) I must be getting old coz by tea-time i find myself looking forward to a bit of telly and bed.I note there have been some posts about an underactive thyroid, which is something i have been meaning to get tested for some time. years ago, i remember my mum was diagnosed with that. Hers was so bad that she developed a goiter around her neck.At the time she was single mum to 6 of us and was worried sick as she thought she had cancer.I am talking about 30 odd years ago now but i can remember her neck swelling. She was on the same dose od thyroxine for years and years which should have been reviewed yearly i believe. So anyone with an underactive thyroid, do remember to get it checked regularly. How did i start talking about lasagne then end up waffling about thyroids:confused::rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
