Another is it just me? Personal pronouns in Norn Iron media

Is it just me or do others here get annoyed with the use of personal pronouns in the media when talking about Northern Ireland.
Examples are
"Our golfers" instead of golfers from Northern Ireland"
"Our supermarkets" etc. etc.
Do they own these professional sportsmen that they are speaking about? Do they think that I the viewer owns them in any way either? I do not pay their salary and even if I did I would not say that they belonged to me. I expect better of professional broadcasters. If they worked in London or Manchester or Dublin they would not get away with sloppy language like that I am quite sure.

I have no problem with 'our'.
Can this be a random whinge thread? I'm very annoyed at people putting parking cones on the road and thinking this overrides the law and they somehow have a right to that bit of the street.
To the conettes of this world - you have no right to do this.
(However you are probably unhinged so I will not park outside your house in case you wreck my car.)Stercus accidit0 -

Ditto!!!!!!!!! This one really annoys me. And it's usually builders who sod off for the night and leave the cones there. Grr.7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

Mistral001 - perhaps you could edit the title of the thread?
I dislike the use of 'our' as well. But my pet hate is SUFTUM. Stand up for the Ulster Men???? Why, is someone bullying them? It's a ridiculous, chip-on-shoulder phrase.
Ahhh, that's better. :rotfl:7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

Just move the cone anyway but don't park there yourself.0
