Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 3rd July. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good morning - warm & wet again on the increasingly damp Lancashire coast. Am at the dentist at 8.30 for a check-up and then plan to potter. I'm on a flexi day today so couldn't lie in after 5.30am :rotfl: had planned to spend time down at my allotment (that'll be why it's raining then!) - got hundreds of blackcurrants (for gin
) and raspberries (for jam
) plus courgettes, mange-tout, spuds & chard to pick.
I also want to have a wander into town to have a poke around the charity shops - I find better bargains midweek than at weekends for some reason!
WM about to go on, YS gammon to go into the oven to slow-bake in apple juice; I'm also going to bake a banana cake for the male gannets in work to use the over-ripe fruits while DH isn't here to eat them!
Need to have a sort-out of my clothes - I've decided that I need to cull my "collection" of long sleeved t-shirts in all sorts of strange colours, as I don't wear & don't need them
However I do need to find a nice "party" dress as we have 2 wedding evening receptions to go to soon, both away from home, and my Monsoon silk velvet number doesn't travel very well and is a little too "wintery" for August & early September (although if this weather carries on....!)
Monnogran Am with you on the Nutella - DH is the spoon-licker in our house so it is never bought!
Have a good day everyone - have a hug if you would like one :grouphug:

Morning Floss & all who cross/follow
DW is on, fish fed & packup's made, no need to water the baskets as it poured down last night.
I have cut up the packets of antihistamine I bought & now have some in the car, some in my handbag, some in my desk drawer at work & some in my kitchen drawer, what's the betting it never happens again!
I spent weeks planning a b'day party for my DD, only to find the ex threw her a 'surprise' party last weekend, !!!!!h0le, as it's all the same guests they won't want to travel again so soon!
Work is thundering onwards apace to the end of term, my room is being altered again over the holiday, so no doubt it will be a shambles for the first 2 weeks I'm back, with no desks & no shelves. This is good news as it means I won't be able to work during the holidays but I'll still get paid, lol.
Time I set off for work.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Overcast, dull and raining steadily, very wet underfoot. DH up and off to work at stupid early o'clock.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket, beans/veg. Remembered to get the meat out to defrost - so will be having beef stew tonight.
Work was another busy day, hoping that today may be a little easier.
Have lots of jobs to do later when I've finished work, did manage to get a couple of loads washed last night but will have to put it in the TD this morning.
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Up half the night being sick, so nothing culinary OS today
One thing that I am now doing OS is giving little bear a packed lunch (today after washing my hands really well). I really wanted him to have school meals as I thought he would have a bigger variety of food. However he wanted packed lunches so that he could sit with his friends. I held out until one of his friends tried to get his mummy to make little bear a packed lunch. It may have been the best thing to do after all. Little bear used to come home from school famished, and he doesn't now.
Will be taking antihistimines completley inappropriately to try and dry up my cold as I need to get things sorted for a skip allegedly arriving tomorrow.

Morning all
HH - shame about the party.
WS - hope you're feeling better, lots of sickness bugs doing the rounds down this end of the country. Great that little bear is enjoying his packed lunch, I always found that if DDs had dinners and there was one thing on the plate that wasn't quite as they were expecting then most of it wouldn't get eaten. However a marmite sandwich was always welcomed in a lunch box, in fact DD2 requested a marmite sandwich for today's packed lunch, most of her friends don't eat because they're at the silly teenage girl age but Dd cannot be without her sarnie.
Looks like a promising day weather wise here, just about to go strip our bed and get that in the machine whilst it's got a chance of drying. Got another AF order due this morning and then need to pop to get DHs prescription and some other bits.
DD1 has oorthadontist but is getting herself there and back as she's out with friends, she's got two taster days at college tomorrow and is very nervous bless her.
Need to have a good swish around the kitchen and if it stays dry long enough I might even cut the grass.
Hope you all get a bit of sunshine today"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning all
Well my friend has just gone back to Gloucester to work after a lovely flying visit. The meal went down well and we sat and chatted and drank a lIttle wine..........
So off to help at the foodbank today. Just a normal session after the grand opening last Wednesday with the Lord Mayor. Think there is still some celebration cake in the freezer nom nom.
DS has requested lasagne for tea. I will serve it with chips and salad.
WS hope you feel better soon.
HH bet you can't wait now for end of term.
Hugs and kind thoughts to all.
Have a good day.

Morning All!
Grey here this morning. Seeing my nurse this morning.
HH Why weren't you told about the party? Weren't you invited?
Had a duvet day yesterday. I was so tired that I just slobbed about all day and watched telly. Parcel man turned up, and gave me a box, when I opened it half was missing, so rang the company and they sorted it out. Silly man had another box for me, had to come all the way back!:rotfl:
Had chicken and rice for dinner last night, not sure about today. Was going to go shopping as we are going to a Proms concert in our park tomorrow, then decided to let Asda do it for me!:T
Have a good day all.I Believe in saving money!!!:T
