Why would anyone be so naive as to leave a job without a written offer of employment? Thats the bit that doesn't make sense.

And that is what the benefit office will ask you. So what will your answer be?

I hope this wasn't an idea as to how to get out of employment and onto the benefit system so your house was paid for etc. ?

sorry if it's a brutal question - but we need to cut to the chase and unfortunately no amount of "i didn't understand" or " it wasn;t what I expected" or "what I was promised verbally" will make a blind bit of difference to the government and quite rightly so. :(
