i think next is still better than the supermarkets, matalan, primark etc by a long shot. Actually prob on par with sainsburys and not much difference in price between the 2. I prefer m&s for my kids clothes these days.
Its probably only about 1 step up from primark etc in terms of kids clothes to be honest.
I buy my daughters clothes from GAP or John Lewis, occassionally M&S but not seen much I like in there lately.
GAP clothes are good quality and I got her whole summer wardrobe from there in the sale. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
I disagree I don't think gap overall is particularly good quality
At the end of the day I don't think anywhere is consistently 100% on quality these days even places like joules and boden which used to be reliable. However, next has the most choice I think. Then for choice next in line I'd say is DebsNo more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. INS: lost count, naughty step for me! UU: 80 -
We can agree to disagree then on GAP, I was going to get her summer leggings in John Lewis/M&S but the quality was dire for some reason - spotted GAP had a 50% off sale on and popped in and was really happy with them.
I have a real problem getting stuff to fit my daughter as she wears a spinal brace so has an artificially high waist which is a total nightmare to get anything over. The GAP leggings were great quality, good elastic at the waistband and have washed well too.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
I do agree re their leggings lol. Another place that (used to be) good for leggings is benneton. Haven't bout from there for a few yrs thoNo more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. INS: lost count, naughty step for me! UU: 80

Guess like everywhere it depends what you buy - some places are good for specific things.
I havent seen a bennetton here for years - they are on the continent though, was in one when I was on holiday last week:DThe trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

Yeah they had a massive sale there when I was in London a couple of yrs ago (hence the no buying recently). They do bennetton in jenners and frasers (online). And there is one out at silverburn!

I disagree about Primark, the quality of their clothes these days in all departments has really gone down hill so is far worse quality than Next. Wouldn't buy any kids stuff from there now, Next quality is much better although the tag holes are really annoying, so many things I have to send back because of that

When I first started shopping in Next it was a lot more expensive and much better quality. The first thing I bought out of my Saturday job wages was a Next skirt which was £40. Twenty years ago that was a lot. I agree it's better than supermarket clothes and miles apart from the dreadful Primark. I was persuaded to go in there once with a friend and it terrified me - stuff thrown everywhere, lots of folk rummaging and a smell that's beyond description. I have a friend who buys all her clothes there though and looks great so maybe I had a bad experience.
Anyway my 4 year old has a bit of Next but mainly Boden and Joules. Joules polos are gorgeous and suit his slim frame. If you buy in the sale and put them buy for next year it works out to be reasonably priced. Full price is a bit much - £27 for a top is excessive I think. My older two have lots of Joules too but the same applies - 70% off and I snap them up.
I'm thinking Next should bring back their decent quality and try and improve their reputation. It's very hit and miss these days.0
