Next VIP Sale

My mum has just had a few bits delivered... we had the same slot at 6am on Thursday. The courier had said he also has 400 directories to deliver too!! Very bad timing for Next don't you think!?
I'm hoping Hermes are making their way over to me now.. I managed to get two suitcases that were scheduled for delivery yesterday and it was changed to today... we go away on Tuesday and I've since noticed that they have to be returned within 10 days (I'll be stuffed if they don't arrive before we go!!).0 -

I wonder if its due to the fact they gave much longer VIP online slots (used to be an hour didnt it? slots seems to last til 23.59 at all times now) and people being offered a 2nd VIP slot after theyve used the first one?
I think it's a combination of recession/rubbish summer (I mean who wants short and swimming costumes/ sales across the board!0 -

I bought a bunch of summer t-shirts and each one has a hole in them where they have attached the sale tag. Absolutely not acceptable and not worthy of keeping - a couple of washes later and it will most probably rip!
Will be taking those items back for sure and letting the manager know. Who's idea is it the punch the clothes with a gun to put a tag through?
Next employ temp staff for the sale. You are told to put the tag through the seam on the side on the outside of the rail so customers can see the size and price easily. Sadly the (usually students) they employ are given too much to do and usually don't care much so just shoot the gun willy nilly. It's a pain in the bum having return stuff with holes all the time.
My order arrived this morning - two tops in a size 12 one of which hung off my shoulders it was so big and another I couldn't lift my arms in it being so tight. Also a pair of trousers that are petite despite not saying so on the listing. I promised myself I wouldn't shop for the sake of it having way too many mistakes in my wardrobe but I still did it and now have to return all of it. Bah.0 -
I've been to two different Next stores before but they were ones that started later so was there about 8 or 9am and found that fine with a single buggy.
This morning I took the double buggy (but it is similar length to a regular one) and it was a dream. Everyone (customers & staff) were really decent, civil and friendly. There was so much space in between all the aisles and although it was busy everyone just acted as if it was a normal shopping day! I also saw lots of prams/buggies etc and even toddlers on foot (kept mine strapped in and was so glad after I saw a LO go running off with his mum soon after!)
I went back at 10.30am and the queues were much shorter but the actual floor was a lot busier and then obviously there were normal shopping crowds with loads of buggies. Maybe the Devon stores are just calmer for some reason! Anyway, we had fun and got loads. Add that to the VIP sale.... and there was me trying to save for the Winter sale!0 -
went online again tonight, still a fair bit on mens clothing if your interested - didn't buy anything as i spent enough the other day
Also went in store late today ( Bury) and there was nothing worthy of a bargain.
might be worth an online nosy?0 -

Thank goodness for VIP slots, had a 9.30pm Wednesday slot and have had loads delivered already, got almost all of DS/DD's Summer '13 clothes that I wanted. Half the Homeware bits were OOS but they'll come back on the 3am updates
Didnt think I'd do too well with a 9.30 slot but managed to order 95 items..... Eek0 -
I decided to venture out today for the first time to the 5am sale...
left house at 4.45 and arrived at next at about 3 minutes to 5. They had already let the 1st batch of ppl in to the store and still a mile long queue outside. It was a home only store. I joined the 1 in 1 out queue.
I was desperate for living room curtains 2 sets, hoping best case senario for cushions or rug to match. So I had my eye on curtains for some weeks, I went in with 5 different choices 1st to 5th. 3rd choice curtains were in the sale but only very short sizes which is no use. Actualy all the curtains they had were very short so no good overall. I noticed my 2nd choice curtains in the full price bit still, but the matching cushions were in the sale part. So I thought well screw it will just pay full price and get the cushions for half. lol!!
So I get one set of curtains from the desolate full priced area. I asked 3 members of staff if they could see if they have another set (as there was only one in the size I needed) in the back they said no way too busy,
order online ect or phone.
Great stuff (not), so took the single pair, curtains and caught a few other bits and pieces on the way to the queue. 45 minutes in line to pay was painful. I have to say that all the staff ect managed it all very well, they couldnt have done any more really to speed things up, other customers seemed civilized and polite. Though a pointer for the future (I think) would be for them to have one seperate queue for the ppl that had literally trolleys full of stuff and the rest of the checkouts for ppl with 10 or less items.
God only knows what some of these ppls houses looks like! woman in front of us pushing 2 trolleys or trying at least was telling someone that this was her 2nd run, she was one of the 1st in and had just joined the queue again. She was like I normally buy more at the sale, but she doesnt really need anything this time, the husband commened that next weekend she will be down the car boot trying to flog all the **** she bought at the xmas sale. I felt a bit sorry for her to be honnest.. But she seemed so excited and kept saying ah but its a bargain.. I am pretty sure that there are more and better bargains to be had at other quality shops probably some better deals (and no need to go out at 4.45am for?). I think the "next sale" is some kind of cult or something. Staff are all staring and eying up the huge bulk buyers, and also other customers but several times I saw staff giggleing in the corner, I would do so too. It seems pretty ironic however that they are all wearing t-shirts that say "Get it or regret it" "Next Sale" lmao.
After the fiasco of next home I ventured in to kids and ladies clothing, it was pretty desolate. Actually only a lot of *** left. Did not buy anything. I went then back home at 7.45 I checked the website to order my other set of curtains. Website redirected only to the sale website, you could not order from the main website. I called them (call centre in India) to place my order on the phone, not possible, need to wait to the online sale is over. Whats the point in that there was nothing left on the sale site at 8am. May as well let ppl look at the full priced site? I am desparate to put my new set of curtains up and scatter my sale cushions. I cannot! Cos if they do not have the curtains in stock the whole lot will be going back.
Rant over lol,. but yeh certainly wont be getting up at that time again, would rather leave the windows bare or god forbid buy them from elsewhere!0 -
booked taxi at 4.45, got to metrocentre at 4.50. got home at 8am.
went in to get the squirrel bell (LOVEEEE so much) but came out with no bell but another £250 odds of stuff which i ' want '. I will only buy home wares and kids wears from NEXT as this time i learned from all my previous mistakes. My husband n i never really likes any clothing range from them. And i would rather wait for the final clearance from either joules, zara or warehouse.
This is the first time i actually enjoy shopping at 5am. The q is shorter, the shop is of ambient atmosphere, less hot and the light, i also noticed , is less harsh and quite dimmed. everybody is brisk and polite, although most still looks quite sleepy.
I have only got a trolley full + 1 basket + 1 picnic basket. The trolley is quite handy on keeping the two solar lanterns that i got instead of lugging it around the shop. I also got hold of a big wicker basket, only to relinquish it to a lady when she ask me where do i get it from, as really at the back of my mind, i keep asking myself, DO I REALLY NEED IT?0 -
Funny thing is I was more than tempted by lots of the garden furnature that was reduced. I was going to buy it in the 1st place but was way too high a price for even a splurge for me any way, It is very beautiful though. I was soooo tempted today with a lot of it half price, I was happy with myself for resisting.!! Because in the first place it was too expensive therefore I bought elsewhere for a fraction. Now its half price? Do I bin my other stuff cos its half price now? em NFW. So I didnt. I am happy that I didnt as it would have kind of defeated the purpose. Was sooooooooooooooo tempted tho!!0
