Notmyrealname - thanks for the info, forgive my naivety on such matters.
Had a mild panic when i seen the car listed, that someone may drive it away unaware and have an accident.
Yes the mechanical faults could be fixed but were more than the cars worth
My mind is now at ease. Its feasible that the scrappy may have fixed it, sold as spares whatever.
I'm happy now that no one did anything wrong or illegal0 -

No, actually I don't think thats whats happened on this occasion. I think its merely a case of the OP is actually a decent person and wants to make sure no one else hurts themselves by buying something dangerous unawares.

londonTiger- No, i didnt feel cheated, got a good price for the car, more than I was expecting. Whatever the scrap man gets for it now I dont mind, although I expect nobody would be stupid enough to pay what he was asking for it.0
