After a scrap dealer buys your car for cash and tells you it will be dstroyed, is then legally allowed to resell the car at a profit on ebay?
(the car failed MOT and is dangerous to drive)

No. They should have given you a certificate of destruction.

If you didn't get a certificate of destruction, you simply sold someone a secondhand car. They can use their skills, fix it up, apply for a V5C and sell it. Why not?

When I sent a dangerous car to the scrapyard, I cut some big lumps out of the wiring loom to make sure it would never be put back on the road again.

that wouldnt stop it going back on the road marlot.. simply remove the wiring loom from another car of the same model and fit to yours ;)

In what way is it dangerous to drive ?
A car could fail an mot and be classed as dangerous to drive just for having a bald tyre , something that could be fixed in 5 minutes.

I would have said yes it's ok for them to resell.

They are a motor trader and if they have decided they can get more for the car as a whole rather than a scrap, or stripping it for spares.

The car should only be resold as for spares and repairs, so there is a good chance to new owner will never want to drive the car but will just want it to remove parts from.

I don't see the problem or that it's really your business. You chose to sell it to them for scrap instead of on ebay and get more money, not them
