ABS 'skid marks' can present themselves in heavy braking situations, often for some reason they're not visible immediately, but seem to gradually become more and more visible. There is a noticeable feathering pattern on the tyres after heavy ABS braking too.

Other marks such as critical speed marks will be left in a control loss situation because these are the product of a rolling wheel and display a characteristic striated pattern.

Some of the car's i've had with and without ABS the brakes didn't have enough power to lock up the wheels in the dry.
