Aqua credit cards - avoid!!

  • It could be all the searches, which may have come to light in their final checks.

I would avoid applying for anything else for a few months now.
  • I have never had a problem with my Aqua card and they have slowly and steadily increased my limit over the 2 years I've had it.
The truth is out there... and I want to believe
  • I agree Silentkiller, no complaints from me, all UK based customer service (very good too I might add) and faster payments supported, and the website is very easy to navigate. Thumbs up Aqua.

    CC limits £26000

    Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

    Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

Another happy Aqua customer here also.

Opened the account in November 2012 with £250 limit, increased to £500 after 3/4 months, £800 a few months after that, then £1400, and have recently had a letter stating they're increasing my limit to £1900.

I use the card a lot. Their customer service is great, but not 24/7. I also find the card to be a little blocked prone, i.e. if I use it twice in the same shop quickly, it'll decline/block. It also gets blocked if I use it online for a large amount (£300+).

I'm flying to the US in a few weeks, and am hoping to use it there, so will see if it gets blocked. Have let them know already. :)
  • Very pleased that you're all happy with Aqua. I was really trying to find out if this is going to have a negative effect on my credit score and if anyone else had experienced a card being cancelled before they received it. :rudolf:

I don't think Aqua could have trashed your credit profile anymore than it already was if they rejected you for their classic credit card. ;)
We take a closer look at applications and pride ourselves in giving people credit when others won’t.
  • I do not have a good thing to say about my experience with the Aqua card over this past two years other than the £100 max cashback was a good deal. But now that it is due to vanish I certainly won't be continuing with them for the following reasons; 1/ the forthcoming 0.5% cashback will be poor compared to competition 2/ I found the website VERY slow to update both debits and credits compared with others I have used, or still use e.g. Capitol One. 3/ The online contact page is a complete WASTE OF TIME and was unanswered on every recent occasion (x3) I tried them, 4/they would not recently refund me about £250 when I accidentally overpaid - saying they couldn't technically do it (Capitol One did once... so why can't they?). 5/ I have had to fight tooth and nail to get my initial limit up beyond 500 pounds pcm - despite providing details of a decent salary and no debts whatsoever even though they advertised up to 1600 limit which was one reason I applied. In fairness the telephone helpline (when it is available) was polite & helpful but that in itself does not alone mean the overall experience has been good. 4/10 could do better.

I disagree here, my "Available Balance" was pretty much updated instantly upon the shop processing the transaction, and credits to the account updated my "Available Balance" within hours. How much faster do you expect it to be?

The account statement took longer, but to honest, I don't care. I know what I've spent and what I've paid back, the only thing I care about (my available balance) works quickly enough for me for both credits and debits.

This is my experience too. The available balance is updated with a few hours. The actual transactions showing up on the statement and credit limit take between 1-3 working days. It has got a lot faster in showing the itemised transactions online compared to a year ago.

I applied for a Vanquis card and a Luma card all on the same day.

Why? You'd been accepted onto a credit card for people with poor credit ratings, you admitted you already had bad credit/poor credit reports.

Why would you possibly need 3 credit cards?
