    I agree they're completely useless and I can't wait to leave them. No problems whatsoever with Tiscali, new Talk talk modem works when it feels like it but engineer could not find the problem so they charged me £50 anyway!

    Instead of ringing an expensive 0870 number use saynoto0870 and you will find plenty of free 0800 numbers.

    Every little helps !

    @Driver8,

    The 0870 number is free for TalkTalk Customers to call from their TT line. Given the below discussion is regarding a TT account this is the most appropriate and also free method of telephone contact.

    @Tippytoes

    We have already provided alternative contact mediums to the telephony support number, i.e Twitter or the TalkTalk Members Forum, where customers can obtain support via the Online Community Department

    Here's an idea - insource your call centre or at least get people who actually speak good English and, as Tippytoes says do not cut you off when it gets a bit difficult. Far better than nonsense like Twitter.

    I can vouch for that comment too, it took me three round trips (90 miles each time) to resolve my parents' telephone and broadband problem (both are elderly and simply couldn't understand the call centre agents, whom REFUSED to put them through to someone whom could speak the language clearly/in the UK, we couldn't use the forum because their broadband wasn't working at their address and the phone line quality was so poor that it was nigh impossible to hold a conversation on the phone.

    TalkTalk FINALLY got off their butts and sent an engineer (After I'd spent over THREE HOURS using my mobile to their 0870 number because THEY REFUSED to call back) had to finally come out investigate, the BT engineer said when he was at the address that he couldn't believe that TT couldn't detect a fault! He had to literally rewire from the house to the telegraph pole, despite your customer "service" agents allegidly being unable to find a fault!!

    I'd love to see how they can possibly call this customer service, leaving elderly folk without their only medium of communication for over three weeks (anything could have happened for christ sake).

    Perhaps my email reporting to BBC's watchdog and OFCOM informing them of what shoddy service TT provided may get some heads rolling but knowing TT they'll just come out with their usual PR spin and fail to acknowledge they're simply the worst telecoms provider in the UK with a hell of a lot of work to do to improve things.

    As a TT/Tiscali customer for 5 years, I can still say that any problems have been quickly resolved and I have been called back on a number of occasions.

    Once or twice the first person I've spoken to has been difficult to understand. However, that can happen with Uk call centres; I remember an horrendous conversation with an HSBC person in Scotland!

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Was with talk talk for 7 years no issues until moved house. Trying to arrange transfer to a new property was a nightmare to say the least.

    After losing patience I cancelled them which took an hour and 12 yes 12 different people ( I had to cancel engineers visits etc ) . The first 11 people had a poor standard of English and didn't understand what I was trying to say or do. Then I would be transferred to someone else and have to repeat the whole story again.

    The 12th person thankfully spoke English and sorted me out within 3 minutes.

    If you are going to our source call centres then companies need to ensure their employees can communicate and understand customer calls

    Talk Talk are an awful company. I had line problems, so they sent out an engineer. The problem was diagnosed and I was told it would be sorted within a week. Two months later nothing had been done.

    I tried their forum who said they could not deal with the issue. I tried the call centre, but they could not understand basic English. During the two hours I was on the phone they transferred me 14 times and hung up on me four times. I wrote to the complaints department three times. The first response was sheer gibberish. The second response related to another customers complaint. The third response said they could not deal with me under data protection laws. In order to respond they needed me to write in with security details. I tried phoning again. I was on the phone for an hour. They transferred me six times, then promised me a call back. To date they have not called.

    I voted with my feet and left. However, I am still continuing with the complaint because they should not be allowed to get away with acting in this manner.
