seems to me that there are good and bad with every company that you deal with.i can only tell you that we have been with talktalk for nearly 4 years and we have never had a problem with any aspect of the company
  • I have used Talk Talk for six years and have never had any problems. Only very rarely have I ever called customer services and I found them to be very helpful indeed and their opening hours excellent. The quality of phone and broadband services I am also very happy with.

And no, I don't work for them!

I've been with them around four years and for me it's some good, some bad.

Had a few occasions where broadband/internet have been completely off (usually only for a few hours at a time and not often enough to be annoying)..when you phone, all you get is an automated "Sorry but your service should be restored in *insert automated blank* hours"...whereas BT would phone back and check you were happy with the outcome if you were having issues.

Thanks to MSE I got a new contract much cheaper than usual by phoning retentions when mine was up...and of course, they took the wrong Direct Debit payment out.

First DD was *much* cheaper and the second was about 30p more than was agreed. Unfortunately you nearly always have to chase things up...CS can be contradictory and tell you things that aren't true (like, saying they don't send out N routers when they're advertised on their website, for example).

Customer Service is like night and day between the phones and the forums. They really need to sort their call centre representatives out, it's hit or miss whether you'll get a genius or a dunce.

I'm still with them as I haven't too many troubles with them, and they're the cheapest out the ruddy lot :) My broadband seems to be consistently around 16 meg, though I'm close to an exchange.

Personally I've had nothing but problems with them, not only for myself when I moved house and most recently on behalf of my parents' whom are (currently) having broadband issues.

You always get a foreign call centre whom the person at the other end simply does not comprehend the english language or listen to what you're telling them, or they just repeat the same idiotic answers from the computer screen and can't do anything more human to resolve issues.

Worst bit for me personally is that years ago I worked for carphone warehouse when they first took over opal telecom (whom later became talktalk) and used to "sell" talktalk as a decent alternative to bt etc, but since CPW and TT split up they've gone majorly downhill and needless to say I and my parents are awaiting with baited breath for our contracts to end so we can go elsewhere.

We've never had any problems with them, but from the sheer numbers I see that do, I think we are one of the lucky few!

Yep, their CS is bad. I rang them last Friday to tell them they may not receive my payment due to the problems that RBS had (i'm with RBS) and the first question I was asked was 'so when will we receive payment, can you ring tomorrow and let us know the exact day' ermm no, I can't let you know as I don't know myself!! Anyway, the DD has come out now so they should be happy!
On this I would disagree. Its not their problem YOUR bankers had issues.

I know other companies were taking a zero tolerence policy during the RBS issue.

That's a curt reply. It wasn't Mazza's fault either. To be honest it's out of Mazza's hands so the best thing would be for talktalk to be a bit more sympathetic towards Mazza. After all, it was nice of him/her to contact talktalk and informing them of DD issues. :)

ive also had problems with this company, a couple of years back i was hounded by their staff outside tesco (god knows why they think people want to discuss their bb outside a busy supermarkets with shopping and a stroppy toddler in tow) anyhow they told me their price would be cheaper than who i was with at the time so i agreed to switch over to them. i was without bb for 8 weeks whilst they faffed about in the end to be told that it was because i hadnt ordered a new router and it was going to cost £49. now i was told switching would be free and wouldnt cost me anything. i then phoned up and cancelled, as the contract had only started 3 weeks before i was within the cooling off period yet they charged £68!! i dont know what for because i didnt receive any services, the bb was never fully connected. after a lengthy phone call they agreed to cancel everything and wipe the bill they had wrongly charged me! never again!
