Just thinking about my debt makes my head hurt - I feel bone achingly weary to the deepest darkest depths of my very soul.

I just keep a picture in my mind of being debt free and one day in faraway future when one of my children ask's me for something I can say 'yes'

Could I be more depressing - sorry folks!

Must be something in the air........I can feel so positive one day and then hopeless about it the next. I also have no partner, (never thought I'd be skint, in debt and alone in my 40's) and regularly wonder what the point of it all is. I am miserable far more than I am happy. I work 48 hrs per week, when my health condition says that I shouldn't, and all I have to show for it is the fact that I'm a tiny bit nearer DFD. There must be something better than this, surely??

Oh SS keep plodding on, you have inspired me so many times on here with your good advice. Have you worked out your DFD yet? Sometimes I think back to say, 3 years ago and just cannot believe how quickly the time has flown by, don't know how many years you have till debt free but try thinking back the same number of years and I bet it feels just like yesterday?

Make sure you do still build in some treats, you can't put your whole life on hold even if you're trying hard to pay off debts.

And just think of what you'll be able to do with the money you're currently spending on debt repayments when it's all paid off! I always think of Ms London as the ultimate example for this.

    SS,

I used to feel so trapped by debt to the extent where I had a reoccurring nightmare about being stuck in a swamp. I used to wake up in a sweat almost everynight with my heart thumping like mad.

I became debt-free last year when I was 28 but had spent the rest of my 20s in debt. It felt like a noose was around my neck but once I took control of the situation, it didn't feel so tight. The light at the end of the tunnel was always quite dim but it grew brighter and brighter the more I paid off.

I know it seems like you've still got a long way to go but if you turn round and look down the other end of the tunnel, I bet you can no longer see where it starts. In other words, you've come a very long way and you will do it! You're an inspiration to everyone SS!

What's the matter??? You're not usually down - is anything on your mind apart from the debt?

Just remember it doesn't matter how long that tunnel is, with every step you take you are a step nearer to being a DFW than before.
