Brizzle - 13 hours from Inverness to London, then another 8 from London to Truro! About the same as getting to Mauritius... Attempting to do it by train is £236.50 for a return and no quicker. Even London to Truro return on its own is £105.00.
Mfmaybe - flights to London are also up in the £200-ish range, I checked
I think it must be the end weekend of the English half term or something. 0 -
Hi Caz
Just catching up as I've been snowed under and not on much. You've had a yoyo time whilst I have been away! I often get those moments where I day dream about what I want to do (I know where I'd like to be, just not got the cash to do it!)
Glad Merlin's ok - is he still?
June doesn't have any kids holidays in it officially however some are off the 1st week.
Just thinking - you sound like a mega busy lady - when would you fit in a job?

Yup, Mr M is still sound, thank you for asking
He was very pleased with himself this morning because he managed to pull a bale of hay off the wheelbarrow as I was taking it down the hill and it exploded when it hit the ground. He was looking mightily smug until I came back up with the barrow after unloading the second bale and scooped two thirds of it up to put in the shed!
I've not got much done today as we had to go into town for Mr Minx to get a haircut (he goes back to work tomorrow), reverse the door on mother in law's new fridge and for him to have his post-op assessment with his surgeon. While he was at the hospital I went for a sports massage which Mr Minx had kindly paid for. My calf muscles feel like they've been steamrollered, but in a good way
I think I'm going to try and budget for one every couple of months, she only charges £30 for an hour and I feel so much better. 0 -

Painful but necessary
No bruising and I feel SO much better today. She only did a little bit of work on my lower back, but I had hardly any pain there when I woke up this morning (I tend to sleep on my side with my bum sticking out and over-flex my back, the first thing I usually have to do in the morning is curl up like a hedgehog to stretch out my lower back muscles again!).
A friend of mine has switched her horses onto a different feed, so I bought a nearly full sack of Speedibeet off her for £10. Thanks to the cost of getting feed hauled up here to the stockists, the cheapest I can buy it locally is £13 a sack.
What else? Oh, something I forgot to mention yesterday, I was sitting in the barber's shop while Mr Minx had his haircut and saw from their price list that they offer ladies' trims for £9.50. Next Friday it'll be a year since I last had a haircut, so when there's a spare tenner in the budget (i.e. not this month!) I'll go in and see if they'll do mine - it might be for short hair only.
I may have some extra stuff to eBay. Mr Minx ordered a kind of small side-table/chest of drawers for the hall and it was delivered today. I emailed him at work to let him know he had a flatpack construction job to do when he got home and got a reply that said 'Thought it was coming already built?' 'Can't be, it's in two boxes.' So he got home and opened the larger of the two boxes - out came the complete thing, all assembled. We examined the other box and it had no delivery or sender address on it, just 'Box 42' written on it in biro. We opened it, in search of any paperwork - nope, nothing. I've emailed the courier to ask them if they've got any way of identifying either the sender or the intended recipient! Most of the contents were sealed inside more cardboard boxes, but the three that weren't were high-end perfume sets. I feel slightly bad about keeping stuff that isn't mine, but I'm doing my best to track down the real owner and if the courier can't trace them and doesn't want it back, then it's OK to sell it, right....? I'm going to keep it for 28 days before doing anything with it anyway.0 -
You've just brought back an AMAZING memory - the smell of sugar beet soaking! Mmmmmmmm!

It's not wrong of me to hope that the courier doesn't find the owner of the other box, is it?! :rotfl:🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

After the 28 days or whatever I'd happily claim it as mine as you've done all you can and what else could you do? If you hand it to the police or whatever they'd probably store then bin it anyway - go for it.Debt - CCV £3792
