Rang home insurance people and politely asked if they could help me work out why the renewal and the new quote were so different. Nice lady on the phone went through it all on their system and did the renewal for me at the new quote price - £53.54 saved :D

Slightly on a roll, rang Sky and asked if they could help me get my bill down as it's going up to £73.75 from 1st June. Nice lady on the phone asked me a zillion questions about what we watch (mainly the news, to be honest, but Mr Minx is a mad Rugby League fan, which is only shown on Sky) and then gave me a year's discount on the HD package and six months' discount on Sky Sports. Only £10 off for six months and then less for the remaining six, but it all helps. :D

We were hoping for three in a row with the lottery ticket Mr Minx bought on Saturday, but sadly it was not to be :rotfl: However, I did ring the garage yesterday afternoon (yes, they were working the bank holiday) to see what the diagnosis was on my car and they said there's nothing leaping out at them as seriously wrong. They think it may be an issue with the rear brakes and want to put it on their brake-testing machine, which is attached to a ramp that's currently out of action, so are hoping to have a look at it on Thursday.

In the meantime, I get to drive either Mr Minx's pride and joy Audi or the truck. He is equally nervous about allowing me on the road in either of them :p but has come down on the side of putting me in the truck. Never driven anything bigger than a saloon car, apart from ten minutes test-driving a Land Rover, so it could be an interesting few days!

    Great news on paying less!

I find my L200 easier to drive than DH's car which is smaller BMW. You can't beat the L200's :)

Drove it today and all people and street furniture between home and the post office are intact :T:T:rotfl:

We have been having a big holiday discussion this morning. Try as I might, I can't get us two weeks in our honeymoon hotel for anything less than £3,200 :eek: so I suggested to Mr Minx that since the pound is currently strong against the euro, a less long-haul destination might be nice. We've settled on the Italian Lakes which may (I have to do some research!) end up being a Top Gear-style road trip down there and back in the Audi :D We may have to do a slight detour to take it over the Millau bridge in France :p

30-minute summary transcription for the agency, 22-minute interview for one of the journalists, 7 orders to post (at the moment) and a rug to stitch up again. Think I'm going to paint the back of it with diluted hot chilli sauce, as the reason the repair keep re-ripping is that Merlin keeps sinking his teeth into the top of the tail flap and pulling!

Other than that, more wheelbarrowing to do, need to get some cash out for the farrier tomorrow (who is going to get paid if I have to chase him round the field and bodily stuff it into his clothing after not charging me anything for the last two visits!!) and I've got a load of stuff to do for Mr RPC in terms of client notes, which I'd got pencilled in for tomorrow (have taken a day off shift from the agency) but could well get started on today.

    Not too busy then :D

The rug stayed intact overnight, no noxious substance required!

Today was supposed to be my fairly relaxed stop-it-and-tidy-up day. So far the list looks like this:
    • Pack and post eBay orders (won't take long...)
    • 33-minute file for journalist
    • Turn 44-minute recording of telephone conversation into meeting notes for Mr RPC
    • Go through all information on server for one of Mr RPC's clients and update their CRM system accordingly.
    • Send invoices to two journalists
    • Farrier
    • Ironing
    • Change bed linen
    • Catch up accounts
    • Tidy up office

The day got slightly thrown out of kilter by the farrier turning up two hours early (fellow horse-owners will be looking for reports of a flock of flying pigs seen over Scotland :rotfl:), but I did at least manage to get him to take some money away with him this time, even if it wasn't the full amount :)

I've started the CRM job, if you count looking at the amount of information in the client folder, going 'No way can I start to tackle that in the half hour before Mr Minx gets home' and putting it off until tomorrow :p It doesn't need to be done until 9th June and I now have something to do for him that needs to be completed by the 2nd, ideally, so that's taking precedence.

However, I'm up-to-date with my invoicing at least and a quick tot up of this month's typing figures (which won't change too much between now and Sunday unless someone has an emergency) gives a total of £924.08, which is pretty healthy, especially since less than half of that is from the agency.

Remember a couple of months ago I said I was going to start putting aside £5 out of every bank deposit to build up a buffer in my current account, splitting it into four different YNAB pots? Current totals, retirement £48, car replacement £24, rainy day fund £24, shiny stuff £24 :D Once the three lower ones total over £100 I'm going to move the retirement one somewhere a bit more inaccessible, like the 5-year term on Ratesetter - the minimum deposit is only £10 so I should be able to keep drip-feeding it regularly.

A productive evening - got the bed linen changed, replied to a transcription query that one of my lovely journalist clients had passed on, thanked my other lovely journalist client for letting me know that she'd been handing out my details to colleagues and then moved my transcription website onto a new Google-friendly, mobile-responsive template and have spent the last couple of hours wrestling it into shape. It still needs a bit of prettification, but I have at last added the testimonials page that friends have been nagging me to put up.

I simply love reading your diary and your daily tasks - who would have expected a 30 something to enjoy reading about another 30 something's daily tasks when I have more than enough of my own to do :rotfl:Looking forward to the scores and then that's me for a week - sunny holidays here we come!
