Lovely evening with Maggie and Oscar and I'm so proud of our dog, who has behaved beautifully (since our neighbours moved over a year ago, she doesn't meet many other dogs) and happily shared her toys with Oscar. We're now trying to work out the logistics of getting Oscar a prescription-only Seresto collar (he got bitten by a tick yesterday) when they're going in the opposite direction to the vet and only have a bicycle. We *think* that if she rings her vet and gets them to fax a prescription to our vet, our vet will legally be able to dispense it. Mr Minx will be in town tomorrow after work to collect the truck and then I can drive west on Friday and catch up with them to hand it over.

23 minutes of file today, 12 orders sent out. Mr RPC rang to see if I'd take ownership of keeping his client database updated (of course I can!), NEL has sent two 45 minute files to be done by Friday and the agency has sent me 52 minutes to be done by 4pm tomorrow. Going to be a busy day...

Oh, book recommendations for DF2012 - I think you'd love Clare Balding's autobiography, My Animals and Other Family, if you've not read it already. The Wild Places and The Old Ways by Robert Macfarlane are very, very good too.

How long does something like a 52 minute file take to do?
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Depends on the audio quality, the type of transcription and the number of speakers - piece of string really! Today's is a summary and quotes rather than having to type everything out, it's two people speaking and it's pretty clear, so it shouldn't take more than an hour and a half-ish. For a normal intelligent verbatim, that would rise to about two and a half.

I think we've got it sorted - our vets have one in stock and have put it aside, her vets are going to email them later and Mr Minx will collect it before 5.30. I'll then drive it west to the place she's staying tonight. Our vet has kindly said that if they don't get the email through, they'll do a telephone consultation with her, so one way or the other it should all be okay :D

Ye Gods, where has today gone?? 29 minutes for the agency, 44 minutes for NEL, 18 minutes for one of the journalists, nothing from Mr RPC, but he has set me up with my own email account and phone line on his office system, so I am properly part of the team now! The phone thing is clever, it doesn't forward to me, but records a message on his server and then forwards me a .wav file to listen to.

I have also caught up with my invoicing and currently have just over £515 in money due in for typing stuff. NEL has sent three files for next week which will be just over £100 on top of that and I already have 38 minutes from the agency for Monday.

We did manage to get the Seresto collar delivered last night and Oscar greeted me like a long-lost aunt, which was lovely :)

    Some late scores on doors:

    Business
    Barclaycard: £3,490.00 / -£3,490.00 no change

    Business total: -£-3,490.00 / -£3,490.00 no change

    Personal
    Halifax card: -£4,870.00 / -£4,810.00 +£60.00

    Personal total: -£4,870.00 / -£4,810.00 +£60.00

    Grand total:8,360.00 / -£8,300.00 +£60.00

The good news is that I've had a nice big eBay order overnight, enough to top up the £500 I was planning to pay myself this month in YNAB with some left over, so I can start attacking the Barclaycard again next week.

The rain has, amazingly, held off today so far. One load of laundry on the line, another in the machine, calabrese seedlings planted out with soda bottle cloches over them, tiny leeks transferred from trays to seedbed and a bit of weeding done. Now going to pack some orders up and make a start on next week's typing, as I think it's going to be busy...

Where's this week going?? It's typing, typing and more typing at the moment :D Agency work this week so far - 38 minute summary yesterday, 56 minute full file today, 60 minute summary for tomorrow. NEL work - 2 x 65 minute focus groups (one done) and a 71 minute interview (13 minutes done). Mr RPC work - about an hour and a half so far.

eBay sales are ticking over nicely, nearly £500 banked this week so far. I am less than £100 from getting into the £7,xxx band, so hopefully it'll be a good scores on the doors on Friday :D

Off out for dinner with Mr Minx, mother-in-law and visiting brother-in-law tomorrow night, so may not get back here until Thursday.
