For any eBay sellers reading, I think I may have worked out why my sales took a sudden boost - yesterday afternoon, a neutral that I got last month disappeared from the '1 month' column, meaning I now have no neutral or negative feedback in the past month. eBay has stated that the Cassini search rewards sellers who provide excellent customer service and neutrals and negatives are one of the easiest ways for them to assess that. If sales keep coming in, then I think I've found the solution.
That is good news. Can you ask your customers to put positives instead of neutrals when they receive their goods or is that not allowed?0 -

I know, I know, you're both right - but when we first got together, Mr Minx expressed his deep gratitude that I was working and paying my half because wife number one had never worked and wife number two had mostly never worked and he said it was such a refreshing change to be able to spend the money he'd earned on himself rather than it all disappearing on things his wives wanted. I have always prided myself on being the wife who paid her way and I don't want him to feel obligated to support me. I'll keep sleeping on it, I promisewonabeedebtfree wrote: »That is good news. Very not allowed I'm afraid
Remember a few days ago I was talking about Mr Minx's epic strawberry netting? I took a picture of it this evening:

Well, well, well, £435 banked from my PayPal account this morning
Okay, so it hasn't lasted (currently two orders to go tomorrow totaling about £7!), but at least that gives me a glimmer of hope that I can spin this out until other sources of income take over.
No transcription today because I had my meeting with the tack shop owner. The upshot is that I'm going over for one afternoon a week to help pummel her website into shape and if we can get it producing more orders than it currently does, I'll be doing the admin side of it for her from home. Fingers crossed I can help.
I celebrated by stopping off in Tesco on the way home. I wanted ice-cream, but neither Haagen-Dazs nor Ben & Jerry's were on offer, so I came away with a half price packet of double-stuffed Oreos instead. I now have a thumping sugar headache, serves me right....
Mr Minx is still away. So far I've watched four episodes of Person of Interest (I'm a bit behind with the Sky+ box) and am now going to have a couple of hours of Final Fantasy XIII before turning in for the night.0 -
I might have been a bit over-optimistic about the bead shop revival, I have six orders to go this morning and a grand total of £30 banked. Still, if I can get £80 into the bank tomorrow morning, I'll go over £1,000 for the week for the first time since the first week of April.
No transcription or proofreading assigned yet either, but they still have 35 minutes to give me some if anything comes in. I'm on the evening shift as well, so might pick up a bit later.
On the plus side, I've sold another perfume set, but can't bank the money from PayPal yet because I had an email yesterday to say that one I posted on Friday hasn't arrived, so I'm keeping the money from this one in PayPal just in case I need to refund her. Think I'll send this one recorded delivery, just in case.
So it looks like it might be a quiet day. I've got some laundry on, we have guests coming for the weekend, so at least I can get ready for them (okay, and maybe have another go at trying to beat Vanille's Eidolon on Final Fantasy)

A truly excellent construction!
I just wanted to jump in here re paying mortgage share, as a newish lurker. I've had relationships where partner did not lift a finger to improve our financial situation. As a result, I've always been quite separate on finances.
However last year I was earning so little, that my boyfriend offered to cover the rent and did so for a few months. For me it was an absolute game changer in terms of starting to think of 'our' finances rather than 'my' and 'his' finances. His reasoning was that it was investing in our future as I was setting up a business, and that I would do the same for him. Which is true, but I have to admit I would have been more cautious and probably a bit begrudging of it. Whereas now, I covered the rent this month and that's fine, it's our money wherever it comes from.
For me it's had such a positive effect on our relationship. We've been together for four years and lived together for three...but only in the last year have I really started to enjoy the 'us' of domestic and financial affairs. If you accept this now, doesn't mean that it will be forever. It might be for a month, or three...and maybe one day you will do the same for him!0 -

In other bits of good news, I got £20-worth of proofreading last night and I banked £85 this morning, meaning I just scraped over the £1000 mark for the week for the first time since the first week of April.
The weather here this morning is truly horrible, it's so wet and windy that even Merlin, who is normally anti rugs to the point where it's a case of "if you do those straps up, these teeth aren't just going to be a warning" decided that he might actually like to have one on today. They're in the field shelters with half a bale of hay between them to warm up.0 -

DebtFree2012 asked a while back what I'd do on the day I became debt free. I still don't know what I'll actually do, but I've decided that I'm going to start saving for some new stuff for the boys. Looking at my collection of rugs, only Finn's middleweight doesn't have any repairs, most of them have had major surgery at some point in their lives! I know they only wear them once or twice a year, but it would be nice for them to actually provide complete protection from the elements when they do. So that's two heavy-ish turnouts, one middleweight turnout and a fleecey wicking rug for Merlin. I also want one of these:

I have the synthetic saddle she makes for Finn and he goes so well in it. I've ridden in the Vogue before, they're absolutely amazing, but they start at £1400 and then there's another £300-ish on top for the recommended girth (Professional's Choice at £60 - I have a second hand one for Finn and to be fair, it's amazing), webber-style dressage leathers, sttirrups, high-cut numnah and if I'm going to use it on Merlin as well, he'll need the Smartpanel to pad it as his back muscle redevelops. So not much change out of £2,000 for the saddle and rugs
Mr Minx has been out shooting all night - he and his mates stayed over at the bothy in the forest because the tracks in are so bad that it takes over an hour to do the 20 miles in a 4x4. I'm expecting him back around lunchtime, hopefully with some venison (or venison to come - it goes off to the keepers' shed to be hung for a bit first).
We have friends arriving on the 9pm train, so I'd better get out of my dressing gown, get into some clothes and get the house ready0 -
Whew - just catching up - lots happens in week :rotfl:.
The online tack shop sounds fun and interesting - hopefully you can help the owner and get something out of it too.
Nice incentive to get debt free to buy a HM saddle too.
We had a few days awful weather and brought 2 of the girls in but the one hates being stabled and just paced and barged the door so I rugged them and chucked them back out and they ran off far happier than me in the rain lol. Hope Finn and Merlin ok.
Have a good weekend with catching up with your visitors .0 -
LAM - I'm hopping over the border to have a lesson with HM when I'm in Cornwall the week after next
Can't wait! I went there about 12 years ago, when she still had schoolmasters and did a 2-day course with her teaching assistant which was simulators and schoolmasters, it remains the most useful riding instruction I've ever had in my life, but I wasn't riding regularly at the time and I've forgotten most of it. Hoping that a refresher lesson on the simulators will sort me out
I would absolutely love to do the teacher training one day, but I need to get my confidence back properly first.
