LOL! that should get you out of future lawn mowing. Cant the boys mow it for you?

Is it merlin on stomach meds? is it for ulcers? my little mare has been diagnosed border line cushings so we are re testing in 8 weeks to judge how far she has gone since now and whether necessary to start treating. So bizarre as apart from the fact that she had that mastitis for a while and is starting to look a bit cresty you really wouldn't know.

He was very keen on having the boys keep it down last year, despite me warning him that even unshod they'd still mark it, so in March last year he finally persuaded me to set up the electric fencing around it and put them on it for an afternoon. Let's just say that fourteen months later he's still cursing about hoof dents :p

It was Finn and yes, it was ulcers. Poor chap, we didn't realise how stoic he'd been until it finally all got too much for him one day and he took off bucking when I had my left foot in the stirrup and my right leg in mid-air over his back :( He's a much happier chap now and we have a deal going that if he stands calmly at the block, I get on quickly and smoothly without using the stirrup and we're slowly both getting our confidence back in the whole process of getting me on board.

Anyway, Friday has come around awfully quickly, so have some scores on doors:

    Business
    Overdraft: -£-9860.00 / -£9795.00 +£65.00

    Business total: -£9860.00 / -£9795.00 +£65.00

    Personal
    Egg card: -£4730.00 / -£4730.00 no change
    Barclaycard: -£2190.00 / -£2190.00 no change
    Nationwide card: -£2380.00 / -£2380.00 no change

    Personal total: -£9300.00 / -£9300.00 no change

    Grand total:19,160.00 / -£19,095.00 +£65.00

And the daily tally, assuming I get no more proofreading (I have five files assigned with a 10pm deadline, so I doubt I will).

    £20.00 - proofreading
    £27.03 - transcription
£33.50 - 10% of bead shop bankings (yay! Sales uplift!)
    £80.53

That makes the weekly total £348.14 out of a target of £350 - I'm sure the bead bankings can probably spare the extra £1.86 :D

I'm actually very surprised, I never thought I'd get anywhere close. Okay, fair enough, I wouldn't have made it without the £35.78 from the personal eBay sales, but maybe I'll pick up a little bit more proofreading next week.

I've also sorted out the buildings insurance which is due on 1st June. The renewal came through at £185.85, I have just moved to Swinton for £103.75 with £20 cashback to come and an hour after I paid for it, I got a courtesy call from the manager of the Inverness office to check I was happy and let me know that my policy documents would be sent out next week. Most impressed.

Actually, I didn't include my Transcriber of the Week bonus, did I? So that takes it to £358.14 :D

Bit of an expensive day :o

I did try to start in an MSE manner by going to Mr Minx's barber to see if they'd cut my hair - they do ladies' trims, but I wasn't sure if mine was going to be too long for them as I'd only ever seen women with short hair in there. The good news is that they'll happily trim an inch off the bottom for me, the bad news was that there were six blokes waiting in there and by the time we got back from the rest of the day's errands, they'd shut, so no haircut for me today. I suppose it's waited fifteen months, it'll wait a bit longer!

Then it was off to Allans of Gillock for another 10 electric fence posts (those went on Mr Minx's account, so I don't have to pay for them until next month) so I can block off the lower part of the third field to have a rest for a few months - not sure how much they are, but hopefully not more than about £25.

The Tesco bill was £92 and that didn't even include a bottle of whisky  That's what happens when you take Mr Minx in there before he's eaten, but 11am was really a bit too early for lunch. I took him to Wetherspoons for lunch, £12.50, and then it was up to Homebase for some strawberries (local polytunnel had sold out) and some potting compost and Mr Minx added rosemary and sage bushes and some other herb seeds for a total of just under £18. We did okay on the strawberries though, they were selling them in packs of 6 for £5, but one of the chaps in the garden centre said that a few of them had one plant missing and if I wasn't fussy about variety, they were going to mark them down to £2.50 as soon as they could get the pricing gun working. I said as long as they weren't Elsanta, I didn't mind, so picked out a pack of Cambridge and then he came and found me a few minutes later with a different one, saying he'd just found them on the shelf and he thought they looked like stronger plants. Excellent customer service, thank you Mr Homebase man :)

At least it's been a cheap afternoon. I've got the tatties planted, the mixed leaves have come out of the cold frame and been planted out, I've sown some lettuce (more in hope than expectation, to be fair!) and the rosemary, sage and strawberries went in as well, along with a transplanted parsley that had self-seeded itself in the small herb bed in the garden. Then I tackled a bit more of the weeding and asked Mr Minx if he would kindly put up some strawberry netting to keep the birds off, as most of the plants were in flower. I was thinking along the lines of four bamboo canes and some stones, but Mr Minx does not do things by halves. He disappeared into the Man Shed, emerging occasionally with a bit of wood or a tape measure, and he's nearly finished constructing a custom-built frame which fits exactly over the raised bed and is fitted with windbreak netting on all sides! Take that, starlings!!

:TThat's the sort of thing my DH does, when my ds was just crawling I asked him to make a ramp for the patio door as it was a big step. Ds is nearly 12 and it's still going strong, complete with rubber strips on it so it's not slippy when wet .....

The strawberry net is in place and I don't know who's more disappointed, the birds or the horses!

Unlike the rest of the UK, we're having a dull, overcast day with sporadic outbreaks of rain. It does mean that I've got the house cleaned and done two loads of laundry. Now Mr Minx is settled on the sofa with the remainder of the Super League Magic Weekend and I've come out to the annexe to get tomorrow's orders packed and make a start on today's proofreading.

It's only a couple of months ago that I'd have had between 50 and 70 orders to go on a Monday morning. Guess how many I have to pack up at the moment?

    Wrong.

    15 :(

eBay's new search algorithm. So many fellow small business sellers have been hit that I'm hoping eBay will tweak it a bit, they must have seen an absolutely huge drop in revenue.

On the bright side, I had a bit of a moan about the situation on Facebook and the local tack shop owner (well, local being 45 miles away) sent me a message to ask if I'd be interested in possibly running an eBay shop for her business and helping with her website, so I'm going over there on Wednesday afternoon to have a chat with her :)
