  • I have just been charged £450 for july. Junes was £95. I'm absolutely devastated. My mum put some money in my account to pay for something important, & now its gone. Ive only been with them since Feb & all of the bills have been around £21. What should I do? Theyve got my money.

Well first of all, look at your bill and see why they have charged you that, if they have. It may be a DD error if that some of money has been incorrectly taken from your account. If you've really run up a phone bill that large, you must be making some expensive calls.

In relation to the original issue - if they put up the price (or put it up by more than inflation?), don't you have the right to terminate your contract? I'd understood that was the case with phones and utilities?

There is no exclusion. If you read the T&C, like any other company they reserve the right to increase their charges anytime which they haven't done to me since I joined in June 2011. Every one of their line rental customers is due to receive the £1.20 increase from August despite what you may have read on here. It's still cheaper than BT for me considering you have to pay the full BT line rental 1 year in advance for a similar comparison , which doesn't apply with Primus.

What do you mean there is no exclusion?
*Excludes ‘Autumn Specials’, ‘Winter Specials’ and ‘Spring Specials’ (Home Phone & Broadband 10Gb, Home Phone & Broadband 20Gb, Home Phone & Broadband Prepaid), Prepaid Home Phone (Saver Basic, Value, Plus and Extra) and new customers who registered for Line Rental Saver between 15th April until 30th Jun

I signed up to the Home Phone Saver scheme (went live 17th May) and they say I will incur the extra £1.20 charge.

Begs the question, what's the difference between 'Home Phone Saver' and 'Line Rental Saver' that they've mentioned in their announcement, apart from the wording?

Going to refer this to the ombudsman, methinks...

You get free calls with the home phone saver but not with the 'line rental saver' They had a promotion on the line saver rental before the price rises of 50p (6.79 to 6.29) maybe they think that it is a step to far to draw people in with a 50p discount and the increase the price by £1.20.

Sure enough, you're right about the differences in tariffs. Odd that they are deciding to hike the prices of one tariff, and not the other...

Primus aren't willing to budge on the price hike I'm set to receive in the next few days, so I've sent a complaint off to the Communications Ombudsman and asked them to intervene.

I have just received my bill from Primus, £6.29 and no £1.20 increase.

The price increase doesn't come into effect until 15th August.

You are correct, not only have they charged me £1.20 more but they have taken the 50p discount off as well so I have been charged £1.70 more icon9.gif I think I will have a word.
