Have just read through all the posts and as i am starting off on the dmp road from October, I am hoping that I can tag along on your journey too and learn some tips!! It all seems to be going pretty good for you both which is encouraging for me so lots of thanks!

Thanks for reading/posting, Bleachbird. I'm just trying to get as much done as I can now in the way of money-saving before my enthusiasm wanes a bit (as I know it will).
I'm not the best at posting daily (hence NL's 'wow, posts' comment) :rotfl: but I hope that when I do post, I can share something useful.
I just logged into my CCCS DMP account and all my first month payments have updated, so I can make the first change on my sig totals :T :j
The LTSB letters I got yesterday confirming they are accepting my reduced payments have figures that match what CCCS have paid, so I'm pretty happy that this is all settled now (for now, anyway, since they say 'for six months')
I've had 13 NSDs this month, which is already 2 more than last month, and considering we're on holiday for a week (just at home, but more likely to spend) I'm fairly happy with that. Benefit of being on holiday also is that we save around £60 on petrol for the week too!
I'm still using bits and pieces from the freezer and cupboards from before my first big shop, as well as stuff from last month's shop, and we may end up not having to do a major shop this month at all, which puts more money into the emergency pot (we're going to need it after this MOT repairs bill tomorrow).
I'm also awaiting a response from F**st Pl*s on my PPI misselling complaint, and they are due to have that to me by 4th September (8 weeks from date of complaint). Could be around £2k, but since it's owned by B**clays, they may swipe it to offset my BC balance. Bit annoying, but I'm expecting it, so it won't be a big surprise if it does happen, and if it doesn't, it'll be a bonus.
Sun is shining, so we're heading out to the shed to pull our bicycles out of retirement and make sure they're roadworthy for tomorrow's MOT excursion. Then we just have to work out how to fasten the bike rack onto the car (a freebie from my boss when he got a new car and needed to get a better/bigger rack.)

We got the bikes out, pumped up the tyres, wiped them down, fitted baskets that we bought for birthdays two years ago(!) and located the (worn once) bike helmets.
We fitted the bike rack to the car (so much easier than we thought it was going to be) so that's all ready for tomorrow too.
We decided to give the bikes a wee test run since it's over 5 years since we even took them out the shed, never mind rode them!
We managed just under a mile, which was fine as it wasn't supposed to be a big excursion, just making sure we could move them without falling off. Definitely prefer the scooter though (comfier seat!) :rotfl:
All set for tomorrow, dropping car off early (8am ish) so heading up for shower and bed now.0 -

Haha whoops, so I did! Fixed now (kinda)
Listening to the rain hitting my window and hoping we can still do the ride. Really don't want to have 2 lots of bus fares; it's extortionate out here in the sticks!0 -
Have copied your letter to creditors from the first page - hope you don't mind! It seems loads better than the cccs one with more detail and I have added that they contact me by letter only so here's hoping!!
Have a fun weekend- hope the rain stops for you both to get out on those bikes!!0 -
We did manage the ride, in two stages. Stopped off at our friends' coffee shop for breakfast (our last holiday treat and not at all money-saving) on the way home from the garage, conveniently located halfway along our 4-mile journey
Serious saddle-sore pains now, and at one point just after we arrived home, my jelly legs gave way and I almost tumbled head first down the stairs  I always knew exercise was bad for me
Got the call from the garage, and a nice surprise as calipers (for handbrake) didnt need replaced after all, and bill was only £246 instead of the £450 we expected. :T
Walked a mile into the village to get the bus to pick up the car, and grumbled the whole way about the cost of the fare. £2.90 for a 2.9 mile journey! How does anyone afford to use public transport these days?
Got the car, got home and then got a call from the garage to sy they'd added up the bill wrong. Was expecting the worst, till she told me she owes us £50! :j:j
Not a bad day0 -
Good grief - a whole week since my last post! It's been a busy one back at work but we've still managed a couple of NSDs.
Got a letter from FP about my PPI claim which has been upheld :T
Got confirmation from Santander that they are defaulting all three debts, and that charges and interest are stopped. Really going to try and sort out my filing this weekend and get all my statements checked to update this properly. I think there's been an addition to my BC, which is either an interest charge, or a slow-to-appear final transaction on the card before we decided to go down the DMP route (car repairs). Fingers crossed it's that and not the interest! Does mean my total won't have gone down by quite as much as I thought, but I won't know till I check my statements.
Just finished work at 11.30 this evening and got home at 12.15, so I may not be making much sense (and the nightcap has absolutely nothing to do with it!)
More over the weekend.0 -
Fab news re the PPI Claim GB, well done ! :T
Do you know if Santander are passing your debts onto a DCA ? Just asking as I have one with Santander, but although they keep threatening to default and pass the debt to a DCA they are stalling. We are 8 months in now on our DMP , I expected them to have done it by now !
Sounds like you are very very busy at work, you must be exhausted.
Signature looking good as well! I love seeing everyones updates ! Well Done ! xLBM July 2011 - Finally took control Nov 2011 DFD Sometime in the distant future !
