£120 for the month is amazing.
The eyeglasess thing
2 eye tests
2 pairs of varifocals for OH
So depressing.
It is hotter than h*ll down here. How is the weather there? Will you watch the Olympics at all?
Sunday our friends are treating us to lunch because they don't have a car and we took them to loads of boot sales at 5 in the mornings to help them declutter.
One of them is also getting married in Oct and I am the matron of honour. I have never had this experience before and now I need to do a hen weekend. ???Mortgage: £280,752/ £262,515.84

Ahem... ummm... yeah.
Truth - I've barely been off of MSE in the last 4 days, but I've reading the amazing story of 'Mike's Mob'. It's a 200+ page thread and I'm on page 84 and it's like reading a dramatic novel.
The grass didn't get cut
We did, however, have 5 sales on ebay, so that's five things decluttered (or it will be when I post them today) and another £18 ish for the 'other income' pot.
In total, including ebay and etsy sales, selling my old (but nearly new condition) skates off ebay, premium bond cheques after updating address, a couple of wee lottery wins, etc, our 'other income' for July was £450.88 :j :T :j
I don't expect this to happen every month, as this was definitely boosted by the skates and the premium bonds, but it IS encouraging to know that it can be done.
My £2 coin pot is one coin away from three digits, which I'm pretty pleased about.
Nothing much happening on the DMP front. Got a couple of letters from creditors this month confirming the reduced payments, stopping or reducing (Barclaycard, 3%) interest and charges and a couple of defaults which means the countdown for getting them off of our credit file starts from now. (Not that we ever want credit ever again).
Things I need to do this week:
* Update my spreadsheet with total July spends from my amazing accounts tracker app that I reconciled to the bank AND cash yesterday. (This means for the whole month of July, I have known and tracked every single penny in or out of our household. Feels good to have that control on our finances :T)
* Scan letters from creditors and file them
* Check/update CCCS online to make sure balances are correct
It's pretty quiet really. Which is good, because it's month-end again which means work will get manic!
I'll try to be better at updating; too busy reading/lurking on everyone else's diairies!0 -
ok I am sorry you told me this, now I need to read Mike's Mob. Do you have the link? xMortgage: £280,752/ £262,515.84

Here ya go. I apologise in advance for the fact that you're not going to get ANY work done for the next few hours/days!
Mike's Mob
It's a bit confusing because although he's now edited the first post and signed it 'Mike', he posts from an ex-girlfriend's account, so for about the first 6 pages, everyone assumed it was a woman posting. Doesn't change anything, but took a bit of adjustment lol.
It's a remarkable story, and I'm only at page 84, which is 6 weeks after his original post, but the shift in this guy's perception of his predicament is phenomenal.
It's a shining example of how amazing this community on the MSE forums really isand how you can make friends that you feel you've known forever after only a few weeks

I too stumbled across this thread (mainly cos I am nosy and wanted to know what the "mikes mob" in peoples sig was)
What a humbling read, I laughed and cried throughout. Wont reveal all if you are only on page 84 but update when you have read it all. x0 -

Well, I went to the link for the Youtube vid of the first TV thing... and there on the notes under the video was a MAJOR SPOILER so I now know what the outcome was, even though I'm now only on page 115.
NewLeaf - If you're going to read this whole thing, don't watch the youtube link when they post it, because it'll tell you the ending!
This really is a remarkable story, and I'll still read to the end anyway.0 -
What I've learned most from having a diary, is that I'm a bit rubbish at keeping a diary! :rotfl:
I've had a few letters in over the last couple of weeks and I really need to sit down a log everything before I lose track (slapped wrist).
I've also been getting calls from a Brighton number which I've since discovered is Lloyds TSB Card Services. They were also bombarding me with text messages but I managed to stop that.
I answered one of the calls at lunchtime earlier this week and the operative claimed to not have received my letter. Funny, I said, since it was stapled to a cheque that you've cashed. I refused to discuss anything with her and asked her to check internally for the letter, since I've asked for all contact to be by letter. I also asked her to locate the CCCS offer letter internally, since they will have had both.
They tried to call again today. I love the 'ignore' button on my iPhone. :rotfl:
I will dig through all the correspondence, because I'm sure I've had contact from them confirming that they're ok with everything. One dept obviously doesn't know what the other's doing. Nothing new there then.
They've got me a bit antsy now, and not feeling like I'm at all organised (although maybe that's because I'm not)
In other news, we have the car MOT, both of our CBTs (for our scooters), one scooter road tax and both scooter insurances due this month  Luckily, we're quite fond of the Aldi 18p noodles, so we won't starve :cool:0 -
Hello !
Did you get LLy**ds sorted out?
Have you seen the women's football last eveing? It was quite good!
Hope you have some time to sort your letters this weekend.
We need to shop around for car insurance, such a pain.
