Okydoke, thanks for the helpful advice. I will tell them about my current boyfriend and his mum can prove he doesn't live here.

Just to clear things up, his mum comes round because she was a friend of my mum, and has known me before I started going out with her son. She feels as though I am already family and has the irritating old woman habit of letting herself in.
I refer to it as 'our house' and 'we' because I live here with my kids!

Anywho, I'm not gonna defend myself any more as I don't need to. Feel free to guess at my personal life based on trivial words and phrases I use on an Internet forum, you are only wasting your own time :)

Not to the forum maybe, but sounds like you may have to with DWP.
  • Seriously, the more you spin these tales the worse it will get for you - compliance officers are very experienced in picking them apart! I'm not going to quote any more but a quick search fills out the true story a great deal more. Or maybe you're making it all up on here? Who knows!

6 weeks ago were planning a first family holiday with your partner and 6 month old...I take it the comment above was a bit of backtracking or do you have another child/children that you were not taking with you as they are not considered part of your family?

Be aware (if it is indeed they want to see you regarding your partner) you may have been under investigation for some time before you are actually called in so they will be aware of when he arrives/leaves etc

My OH's ex got caught claiming as a single parent when she had lived with someone for many months, they had photos and everything. She had fraudulently been claiming housing benefit, single persons tax credits etc. She managed to avoid prison but had thousands to pay back

I think you have had your answer about your scary letter OP.

Whether it's what you wanted to hear or not is another matter.

OP, please stop referring to you latest beau as you "parnter" it really doesn't look good, it really is a bug bear of mine when people call their boyfriends of a very short space of time partner. Partner would suggest that you are living as a family and that he helps contribute into the home etc, i can see why it has been picked up. But as long as you can prove that he lives at another address i.e that his mail goes there and that he doesn't help you finanically then you should be ok, take it as a warning that whilst you are more than aloud to have relationships with people, that you don't cross the line, or you wont be so lucky next time.

The word partner is a bugbear of mine.
Boyfriend or husband, if you are living with them and not married, then its still boyfriend, or Other Half is fine with me too for any relatioship.
Partner to me means civil partners.

OP - admit it to yourself first if you committing fraud, and then admit it to the DWP and take your punishment.

If you are really not living with your OH, then jsut go to the interview and tell the truth

I am not committing fraud, if I was why on earth would I post here asking for help? I would know if I was claiming to live alone but living with someone!

I say partner because I don't particularly like the phrase 'boyfriend' but heyho.
And yes, we were considering a holiday a while ago, shoot me now ;)

A friend of mine recently went on holiday with her boyfriend of over a year, yet she is a single mum of one. I better report her too huh she must be comitting fraud!

Someone either doesn't like you and has dropped you in it or someone suspects you are claiming when you shouldn't be. You don't have to prove anything to anybody on here - its now between you and DWP.

If you are claiming legitimately then you have nothing to worry about. Get your story straighter than you have on here though or you are going to sound guilty regardless.
