That was a different guy :) he came over for the footie, I wouldn't call my babies dad my partner, we split before she was born.

So you have a partner, you refer to "our house", and "the mother in law", so clearly a serious relationship - and you didn't think to advise the DWP of this?

Sorry OP, you really need to get your story straight before your interview:

I think you know why you have been called for interview, don't you?

For goodness sake, I have never been married! I say mother in law, because she is my boyfriends mum! I've been with my boyfriend for a few months, but we do not live together.

How about being helpful regarding my original post, instead of presuming things because of what I've posted In the past?

I am being helpful, I am pointing out that it is blatantly obvious why you have been called for interview! If he does not live there, why do you refer to "our house", and why does his mother turn up at your house, if he does not live there?

You really need to get your story straight!

It sounds like DWP are presuming the same thing! You now need to prove to them otherwise.

Tina I think you really need to get 'things straight in your head' about these anomalous relationships you have - or the next interview may be under caution :D

Whilst it may be that the DWP think that you are in a relationship and want to question you about it, it could also be because you are a single parent claiming IS. I am also a single mum, claiming IS, and every six months I have a work focused interview. The DWP are aware that I am a carer, which is the reason I am on IS (my children are now of an age where I would have been transferred to JSA long ago). However, I still have to have interviews every six months. They are the rules.

OP, you need to consider what other posters have said. Just because your baby's dad is a different person to your current boyfriend, it does not mean that the DWP will not consider the boyfriend to be your partner. The fact that he doesn't live with you is only part of the situation - you can have a partner and still live alone, but be classed as in a relationship so means tested benefits cannot be paid.

Bullsh1t. If what you are saying is true (and I don't believe you at all) your boyfriend's parent would not be letting themselves in to your house.

You call your boyfriend your partner, his mother lets herself in your house, you call her your MIL....

Good luck with the investigation; you're going to need it.

So you've only known your boyfriend (not partner) for a few months, but his mother, who you refer as your mother in law comes uninvited to visit you (and not her son since he doesn't live there) and not the baby (since it's not his) and just let herself in. That's very quick acquaintances for someone who has no real relationship to you.

Are you trully wondering why you are being interviewed?
  • I think you have a choice

Tell them the truth you have a boyfriend who does not live with you or contribute to your house he may stay over once or twice. Show them evidence of your council tax and bills in your name.

ALso prove he lives elsewhere by showing his details

They question my friend a lot as someone keeps reporting her but she has evidence her boyfriend supports his own house elsewhere.
