I'm doing a car boot on my own tomorrow too, well, also taking my 2yr old :eek I keep her in the car until she can't take it anymore and let her out, she can be quite a handful. I take food/ drinks to keep us amused but I don't take chairs, i find myself not spending too much time browsing stalls where people are sat down, feel like they're watching me so I quickly walk off. I've always stood up which I think is good for business, even if you have no sellers you'll always find something to tidy! I hate prices too, if I see a price on an item I tend to walk away, heard it on a programme once that stickered stalls make less money :D

That about covers everything i think, I need to clear loads too, I am mostly selling hand knits, and wool, but have some other stuff too. My grand children are moaning they cant come to stay as all of the stuff is in the back bedroom on their beds . I sold a load last month ( my first one) and fingers crossed for tomorrow as well.
Think positive, perhaps you will be too busy to be bored, I live in a seaside area and this is the first weekend of the holidays so the site i am going to is likely to be packed with people as the sun is set to shine.

Oh i dont price things if people have to ask it starts a conversation and you can negotiate then.

Good luck hope you sell loads and loads.

Thanks guys, hope you both sell lots too! Glad to hear that about pricing as I've just got back from my second job and really didn't fancy pricing everything up now! I also live in a seaside area Teenie, so maybe that'll mean good news for me too!

I never do too well at boot fairs as I always keep the best stuff for Ebay and I don't have any bestsellers like kids' stuff, but this time a friend has given me some kids coats and shoes to sell which I hope will bring in a bit more :)

Good luck Nat and Teenie :)

With regards to the car boot- I can't be bothered!! My students decided to tell me late last night that they needed breakfast for 5.30 this morning. So I got up at 5, flung on some clothes and did their breakfast and lunches. Table was set and ready at 5.30 so I stayed around to make them tea/coffee. As I speak they are still not up. Not best pleased at all, and I won't be waking them. Their coach leaves in 9 mins...oh dear! So I've jumped back in bed but I'll be up again in a bit, the children will wake and I'll be put to work again. Getting a headache too :( instead, I'll go to a car boot and do the double your money challenge :D

Good luck to all you boot fair peeps.

I don't have a car so no boot for me :0(

I am focussing on Dooyoo today - as i am nearing the 20'000 mark so could get an Amazon voucher very soon....

However if I waited until I had 50'000 points I could get cash - are they good at paying out? I'd be gutted to put in that much work, and hen get nothing back for it...

Good luck to all, and only 12p to add to my total - change found while tidying over the last few days.

I'm listing like mad on ebay though.

Has anyone had any luck with sites to sell things that you can't sell on ebay? Other than face-book

  • Another £10 to add. Will be ebaying later and really must pick a date for a carboot. I've been putting it off as I've been working a lot of Saturday nights with job 2 and can't face a bootsale the next morning, but you lot have spurred me on! I'm at work the next 2 saturdays but could do it the week after or as I'm on holiday from job 1, I could just get on with it and have a lie in on the monday. Decisions, decisions!

Well done all you e-bayers and car-booters!

Not doing too brilliantly here. Was hoping to do more MSing but there's not much in the offing, plus i don't really have any money until payday, so i can't make any required purchases .

Earned £1.50 through completing 2 surveys so it's not all doom and gloom :D.

Right off to enjoy the sun now :cool2:.

Textbroker http://www.textbroker.co.uk/ is a site which works like people per hour, but is for writing jobs. So companies post their requirements for text (usually articles, ads or blogs) and you get paid around 1.5 cents per word for writing them. My average earnings are around 5 euros per completed job and haven't encountered any problems yet, but haven't been doing it for too long.

When you first start you're alloted a 3 star rating usually, which is a bit annoying as most jobs are for 4 or 5 star writers, but they reassess your level over the next 3 completed jobs. It's a slow starter and takes a bit of effort, but it can be really interesting and pays reasonably well.
