Best excuse for non-paying

I have had several people claiming family loss but I am always worried it might be true so I don't press them. Maybe I'm too naive!….
I would question anyone claiming family loss as a reason not to pay. It is less effort to pay than it is to email the reasons for non paying.

Anyone who falsely claims a family tragedy is unlikely to be persuaded to pay up.

However there is no point fretting about it. If someone has decided not to pay there is little you can do about it except file a NPB report to recover your fees, make a second chance offer or relist the item and then move on.

Life is too short to waste time on idiots. :)

I sold a few items a couple of months ago. On the night they sold, my grandad, who was terminally ill, took a sudden turn for the worse and asked for his grandkids to come.

I had to travel from wakefield to stoke and stayed a week til the funeral took place. I had no access to ebay.

Before going I rattled off a few quick emails explaining the situation and that I wouldn't be able to post until I got back.

Sometimes family circumstances take precedence over ebay, and no-one should be criticised for the amount of time they take to deal with it unless they don't bother informing buyers or sellers of the situation.

Susplum, you might want to add a comma after “sold” and before “grandad”. :)

I had an NPB first they were ill and then in the dispute console they said they'd been on holiday. I only opened the dispute because they said they'd posted the payment and I was concerned they were trying it on. When I questioned the differing stories they said they meant they were on holiday from work and were ill at the same time.lol.

Ive paid for items n then they havent come for like 2 weeks.
One excuse was that they 1) couldnt find a parcel (!!!!!!) 2) And two it wouldnt fit in the post box?!?!?! However this might explain that when I got it the package was ripped open and my product was hanging out.

Ive also had products delivered in used tesco bags :S

We've had (yet another french guy) this weekend an email from the highest bidder (and had been right from day one) that he didn't want the item, he'd made an error and can we cancel his bid.

If we'd done that then it would have gone back down to £10 (at this point it was at £80 odd) with 24 hours to go. Alot of the watchers that we had had stoppped watching it ages ago so the chances of it going much higher than that were remote.

So we said no, you bid, you pay.

Now we know he won't pay and that's fine because the second chance offer we did has been accepted but it annoys me. I suspect the bidder wasn't expecting it to go as high as it did and got cold feet - so why on earth put your highest bid in and then change your mind?

Maybe he forgot that Euro's and pounds are NOT the same :) He might have been happy to pay 80 Euro but NOT £80 :)

Or he's just a muppet! lol
