According to the calculator I just found on a salary of £13,000 with a child under 12 months you would be entitled to just over £5,000 per year in tax credits (plus child benefit of aROUND £70 PER MONTH?)

    Oops, apologies for caps :o

Our income is pretty similar, infact give or take a couple of hundred for the year almost identical and our TC (child and working) works our around £3500 for the year. We used our P60's so I think the figure will be accurate.

I get my figures from DWP and what I get paid, but I'm not even sure I'd trust them :D There are a few calculators about OP, you could use the one on the actual DWP website. If you've been working recently and you got pregnant quite quickly you may be entitled to maternity allowance too. x

Okay I'll delete this soon as it's a bit personal. Was a bit more than I said, not sure what I thought.

On a slight tangent but related to the differing figures. My sister's had the same job for about 7 years, with constant hours etc. Her TC payments were changed at least every 2 months for 3 years or so as they kept calculating it wrong.

So if anyone does think their figures don't look quite right it's definitely worth checking!

:rotfl::rotfl:have you tried doing on of the calculators to see what it says? i wouldn't be too annoyed if there under paying you cause you'll get a nice lump sum next april if they are.

could also be if you were working last year or are receiving maternity pay as they work it out on last years figures and for maternity pay i 'think' they let you keep the first £100 a week then take money off for the rest (don't hold me to that i'm not 100% on the maternity pay bit)

I get maternity allowance, so it's not counted, only SMP is. I put my exact figures into that link and it's telling me over 5k too, I think I'll just take what they're giving me and accept it, if I'm due more I'll get it back, rather that then be over payed.
