I'm so pleased to hear your update, thankyou.
My daughter is nearing her first scan (fingers crossed) but her work won't do anything without proof of pregnancy - grrr, and I'm worried about her as she is so tiny and works so bliddy hard, bless her.
    Best wishes.

The midwife should be able to write a note that your daughter is under antenatal care, and due at x date. At least mine did for me. Perhaps this may help?

no problem, Could your daughter not just take in her bounty maternity pack that all her notes are in from her midwife? it's rather shocking the won't do anything without proof it's not really something you lie about is it.

Hope her work are more understand soon.

Thanks she hasn't said anything about a bounty bag thing, she seems to think that they need something to send to head office - big company.
(makes my blood boil, bless her she's a grafter and in the sort of job that can't have chairs)

Glad your employer was great about it. Hope all goes well on Friday : )

I'm currently ttc and wondering how my employer will react "when" I get pregnant.
I work in a care home for dementia patients, with long hours - some 14 hour shifts, pretty much no opportunity to sit down, heavy lifting and aggression from clients at times - got punched in back yesterday for example, so I'm wondering how they would go about making adjustments for me if pregnant!

The "proof" is usually the MAT-B1 that triggers benefits, but is not issued until a certain stage. It is the formal notification of pregnancy.

BUT the employer is legally obliged to conduct a risk assessment and make reasonable adjustments (or suspend on full pay) as soon as they are aware of the condition. They are aware when they are told. If her pregnancy requires changes to be made to her work (as with the OP), they are on very shaky ground if they do nothing. Employment tribunals, prosecuted by HSE, etc.

How big is the employer? If it is large enough to have HR, then write to the HR boss. Small companies can be more awkward.

Light (e.g. office) duties? No heavy lifting and kept away from agressive patients. If reasonable adjustments cannot be made, suspension on full pay is the norm. As you would expect, employers usually prefer to find some other role that you can work in temporarily.

A lot of places you don't get those notes to keep until you have the first scan

Tell her to pee on a pregnancy test in the office and hand it to HR.....There's a form the midwife fills in as proof of pregnancy, but i can't remember the name of it...
