and OP people can be very judgemental, I have gone from being married and working part time with no TC's etc to being divorced and working full time and having to claim WTC/CTC - i've been in a wheelchair since i was 22 (now 42) and now 'suddenly' i am a scrounger because i get TC's - no other 'benefits' although with my conditions (Rheumatoid arthritis and MS) i could just sit at home on benefits, as it is i have never 'signed on' and have been employed by the same employer for over 20 years.0

No but then I haven't given advice based on details that have not been given!!
I didn't advise her, I said if all else failed and that it's not something that I would personally do. It is open to her though, regardless. if she felt the need.
Nothing, whatsoever, wrong with that.0 -

That's called giving advice!! Jeez! Where is a face-palm smilie when you need one!!
You can jump up and down about it all you like. If the company are requested (nicely, of course) to ease up on the pressure temporarily so that she doesn't feel 'stuck' then that is what they should do.
If squeezed to the point of feeling that she has no choice but to quit, then any tribunal panel would take a dim view of having ignored such a request. There are many big high street names who specialise in intimidating younger or more vulnerable employees.0 -

You are effectively colluding with her by advising her to claim that she is suffering stress when she hadn't mentioned it or probably even thought of it. Please don't insult our intelligence by saying that that was not your intent.0 -

The flipside being that you are keeping from her something that she may need. Gosh, the clique are out in force this evening:)0 -

Surely she, not you, or even her GP, should be the judge of that?
Ah yes, the old clique routine...the fallback position of those who cannot conceive that their view is in a minority of one, and rather amusingly conclude it is everyone else who is wrong, and more, that they are all "in it together".:T0 -
Right, have had enough of this for one day. As far as I'm aware, it isn't for anyone here to decide, edit, or censor what information a person is given. Anything I have said is perfectly legitimate and lawful, any problems with it will just have to be dealt with on a personal level.

Night, night.
You seriously think it is fine to put the notion of claiming for stress into the head of someone who has a simple childcare issue with working Saturday nights?0
