Just want to sound off!!! I have got an Invoice from these jokers the other day and I had a meter ticket which was well within the 2 free hours and still was targeted. Sadly not on the dash as I had moved from one side of the car park to the other and it had found it's way to the floor. Needless to say the second retail store I visited, I was in there for no more the 10 mins and came out to a ticket slapped on the screen. Clearly the individuals of UKPC involved are predatory and not serving the the legitimate interest of the park owners (ie the retail companies we are visiting and shopping in). It makes me sick to the stomach to find such dishonest people preying on the some of the most vulnerable people in our community; mums with kids and the older generation who will in most cases pay-up to these companies to what is no more than theft, and thereby sustaining their continued activity. I have no interest in contacting such a company and/or expecting any type of understanding when I see the way they operate on the ground. In addition I don't think the retail companies in these environments are completely innocent and at this location I will not be revisiting them until they clean up their act. On a personal note I hope a greater increase in people do not pay these scummy little crooks and they go out of business.0

Here are a couple of good news threads about UKPC for you then:

You can see from that last link that 'people power' can work when enough people complain to the onsite retailers about their parking parasites carrying out a protection racket and driving away custom.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Just wanted to say thanks to all on these boards, and to echo what Coupon-mad said above about complaining to onsite retailers.
I got a ticket from UKPC for parking sans ticket in this (free) car park the other week, stressed out, read these forums, and got ready to ignore letters as they arrived. But like others I hate the way these cowboys operate, so thought it was worth (as suggested by others here) contacting the retailer in question, and I also copied in the owners of the retail park (who are Aviva Life and UK Pension Ltd, in York, if anyone cares). One very stiff and formal letter later I got a very pleasant phone call from the manager of the shop saying they'd instructed UKPC to drop any 'claims' to a charge (which I wasn't going to pay anyway, but this has saved me and Mrs MJ some stress). So (a) contacting the store does work and (b) hopefully if others do so too UKPC will eventually get booted out
Anyway, really just wanted to say thanks to those offering reassurance and advice to those like me who would have got stung otherwise!

Very happy that you got a result Jim, I agree with you about complaints to the retailers involved, IMO everyone should do that instead of useless appeals to companies who's stock reply is appeal rejected. Even when the new so called independent appeals come in October complaints to the retailers should still be done.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
Hi all.
Just an update, I am now on my second letter from the debt recovery people telling me to pay. My 'ticket fine' is now £150 now. I'm still ignoring...
How long does it take before the letters stop? It's been a few months now!
Thanks

They give up after a few letters, they never do court so I wouldn't worry about it.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?

The debt collector and then the solicitor letters are the last in the letter chain. Continue to ignore everything you get from them. Soon, they’ll run out of empty threats and stop throwing good money after bad.

Hi Just to let any doubters know that I have had three "fines" from UKPC @ Cambridge close aylesbury - I live next door so sometimes leave my car there. I have had all there threatening letters from start to finish - about 10 i think. If you read them all, none say they are definitely taking you to court just lots of ifs, mays, and mights...I have also advised at least 5 other people who have recieved these tickets to not pay and nobody has had to pay a penny.
Eventually they stop sending letters, and the next fine you get you will find they don't even bother chasing you for it.
If you are still worried my understanding of the legal side is:
It comes under contract law
You agreed to abide by the contract when you parked there
But they can only sue you for their loss.
The parking is free for two hours and for customers
If you are a customer the parking is for you
They have therefore lost nothing and can sue you for nothing.
Hence there will be no court case, no bailiffs, no bad credit record and definitely no need to pay......simples!0 -

Haha - hilarious!
I received a letter from them yesterday threatening me with the court action but go on to say they have reduced the fine if I pay before they get the courts involved! Thought that was so funny!
It really angers me that there is people who don't know that these people are scammers. Feel like protesting in their car park - without a parking ticket!!!For Everything A Reason....0 -
Living next door to the car park i regularly see people with tickets and let them know they don't need to pay and send them here for confirmation!
Last week I even saw someone arguing with the parking warden, and just walked up to them and said "don't worry about it, you don't need to pay it. right in front of the warden"...:rotfl:0
