Yes, better for you to get the letters and ignore them as opposed to the company that leases the car to your company, and opening up the risk of them paying it.

No chance of that as it's a company owned c ar and I am the MD....

It just amused me that they can't even get the facts right.

  • I got a ticket in the same car park. I went into Wickes. Returned something and came back out and I had a ticket. I was away from the car for 6 minutes (admittedly I should have got a ticket. But being half 7pm, the shop due to close and an empty car park it slipped my mind).

After researching the company and finding this site I have taken the sites advice and ignored it. I am now on my 3rd letter which threatens baliffs and court action.

Just like Jimbouy, I am after some reassurance. Will this go away? Will baliffs come round and take my car?

Thank you for your help :)

No. Bailiffs can only be sent by the court, following a lost court claim and a refusal to pay up following the judgement.

You'd know if that happened to you.

It won't though. So no, no bailiffs will take your car.

The more unpleasant threats usually include mentioning that, if the case goes to court, a county court judgement (CCJ) will be issued, that bailiffs will be appointed and that your credit rating will be ruined. For things to actually get to this stage, the car park owner would have to take you to court and win the case. Then, you would have to refuse to pay, to get a CCJ issued after 28 days. Then, you would have to still refuse to pay, to get bailiffs appointed.
The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life. :)

It never ceases to amaze me that people actually think a firm can allege you owe them money and then just send the bully boys round, without a court win first...OF COURSE NOT!

It's an old thread but a good summary of the position.

You are muddling up debt collectors with bailiffs and you are also muddling up a fake PCN with a real unpaid PCN from a Council. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.

A fake 'ticket' & letters from a PPC is much more like a phishing email scam than any 'PCN'.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
