I don't think I'd ever look for credit again, but sometimes I worry that an offer might present itself when the pain has lessened & I might succumb. :o

I agree with WDIAG I dont think I will ever look for credit again, but they are soooooo good at selling it to you. Before I had any credit cards/loans I was on less money, paying out more expenses but I managed, as soon as I got credit that was it. Basically I know I am someone who cannot manage credit because it doesn't seem like real money so I am not really spending am I. Now that I pay cash for everything I really think before I spend and believe it or not a lot of the things I though I needed, I dont really need at all, it was just the comfort factor, which eventually turns into a nightmare........

24 June - Far too cold & wet today to go out, plus I didn't feel too good, so kept myself relatively busy at home. Managed to do a good bit of sorting out in the study - re-sealed the floor ready for the carpet to go down properly, & waded through the computer & peripherals cables - they were like an electrical nest! I could really do with a proper desk, but I can't afford it - my limit is £50 & all the ones I've seen that will fit the space are £80+. Until I've got the money, I'll have to make do with an old cupboard in which to store the tower drives, an old table for the monitor & keyboard, & an old tv stand under the table for the printer.

Finished the "Beat The Bailiff" dvd - 7 people across the 6 shows, with a total debt of £237,500. Some very ordinary people with somewhat understandable debts were featured, but there also one man that was rather deluded about his situation - he thought it was OK to buy a pedigree cat (Bengal markings) & have a fridge stacked from top to bottom with champagne & beer while owing £100k! In one year, he spent nearly £1000 on maps & £1700 on trucking-related mags because he used to be a truck driver, though he's now a paint sprayer! Jamie Waller is on it - while I think he's an opinionated *%$£*, the one good thing that comes out of the show is that everyone realises the trouble they're in & signs a 'debt pledge' to do something about it. Every person on the shows underestimated how much they owed (just like the rest of us), which is why they ended up finding it so hard to pay it back. One of the people was gadget-mad - I used to be like that, & I find it astonishing that I was able to resist buying a digital camera with a free printer last week for £40 - I didn't need them, & haven't got the time or inclination to try to sell them on, so they'd have been a waste of money. :)
  • 26 June - I think I'm going to have to learn to bite my lip when it comes to my OR. I know he's got loads of work to do, but he must also know the stresses BRs are under, so the day's not exactly a laugh a minute for us either. He doesn't reply to e-mails, & it takes ages to get him on the phone to chase up a response. :( I know part of the problem is that I'm used to doing things for myself & can't be doing with inefficiency (especially from people who know others are depending on them), so having to go at someone else's pace really gets to me. Thank goodness I'm able to speak for myself - if I'd had to rely on him to sort out the nonsense with the bank paying the credit card charges the other week, I think I'd still be waiting for him to contact them. :( I'm hoping that the worst of the admin side is now over, & that I don't have to contact him too much over the coming months.

27 June - Well, another birthday has begun. I've started the celebrations in good style, with a trip to Sainsbury's to do some shopping & pick up a free pack of toilet rolls, then apply for 7 freebies. What a raver I am - I might go totally mad later & make a salad while I've got a cd on. :o:D

Some companies really do deserve what they get. I'm getting regular e-mails from Lovefilm asking me to "Come back to us" despite our rather acrimonious parting of the ways, & I've received a promotional letter saying I'm pre-approved for a credit card with the company I went BR owing thousands to. It would serve them right if I took them up on their offers. Doesn't the word 'bankrupt' mean anything to them?

Oh, thank you - that's the closest to a party I'm likely to get. I can't drink alcohol, can't eat chocolate (so the box I was given yesterday is going to be here for a long time taunting me) & I can't eat cake unless it contains no cream, no eggs & no dried fruit. If some kind soul would attach a drip full of Bacardi to my veins & make a toothpaste that tasted of decent chocolate, I'd be a very happy woman. :rotfl:

  • That was so long ago, I think I'd now have rings on a cake (when I'm allowed to eat it) instead of candles. :D
