Porridge has been mentioned before but I really love it!! You can add literally any fruit to it as well so whatever I'm in the mood for gets thrown in the bowlBroke Student :beer:0

The new kid on the block is now.....
FAT is GOOD,
SUGAR is BAD!
So load up on the eggs, bacon, sausages, full fat Greek yogurt and so on.
Cut down on sugar. And that includes some fruits, but I wouldn't care too much about that, at least it's natural sugar.
Low fat foods contain tons of sugar to make up for the lack of fat.
You have been warned!
My breakfast is usually eggs, eggs, and more eggs, in lots of guises.
Porridge, just plain with a swirl of cream and manuka honey
Full fat Greek yogurt with honey
Brunch bake.....basically a frittata with bacon, sausages and toms.
French toast. Just with eggs, with grilled toms and mushrooms on the side.
I'm getting hungry now.....0 -
You don't have to eat special breakfast food. Although it's traditional in this country, lots of people elsewhere eat up leftovers for the first meal of the day. Just a thought...
Some of my own faves are hummus on toast, hummus on muffins or crumpets or potato bread, banana sandwich (very nice with brown bread and a sprinkle of cinnamon), porridge with jam (chilli jam is nice, and cheap if you just get some dark red jam and add a bit of tabasco). Scotch pancakes are easy to make or you can make the thin ones and roll them round a filling. I also love cold rice pudding for breakfast, if there's any left over.'Whatever you dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin now.' Goethe

Can't remember if I have posted on this thread before. A breakfast I like is sweet omelettes topped with fruit. I make mine using sweetener (Splenda- not sure what other brands taste like).Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.0

Agree with most of the above, but perhaps the idea is moderation - consuming moderate to low amounts of fat and sugar.
I've tried to forego added/refined sugar with my porridge (the only meal to which I add sugar) substituting it with sweetish blueberries. Asda has some cheap blueberries at present.
PS Blueberries are even cheaper at Aldi this week.

I haven't had time to read all eleven pages, so I don't now if anyone has posted this idea; apologies if so.
My DH works from 6am and likes to eat his breakfast during his break, so he takes instant porridge:
6 cups (US measuring cups) porridge oats
1 cup + 2tbsp dried milk powder
Blitz together in a food processor or blender.
Add half a cup of dried fruit.
(The original recipe that I found on the net and have now lost said add sugar but I'm not sure how much)
Use half a cup of the mix for 1 portion. DH takes it to work in a lidded pot and adds boiling water; 160ml, but he does it by eye now. Stir and leave it covered for a few minutes before eating.
I also have this at home because it's less washing up!:D0 -
The instant porridge is a good idea!
I had been meaning to make muesli for years but finally got round to it a couple of weeks ago. The trouble is that I have to eat gluten free and I'm not sure about 'gluten free' oats.
Anyway, because I don't like grains, added sugar or vegetable oils, I put together sunflower seeds, almonds, walnuts, cashew nuts (not sure about these either!), Brazil nuts, snipped dried apricots and snipped dried prunes.
I eat a tablespoon of this on a good dollop of Greek yoghurt.
Weird, huh? But it has no wheat, sugar or added fats. I'm thinking of calling it Bird Food.0 -

Dried apricots and prunes are nature's wine gums. Absolutely packed with sugar (and being "natural sugar" doesn't improve things).Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -
Greek yogurt, crushed nuts and honey/maple syrup.
Pecan and Maple is my favourite - just make sure it is pure maple and not some syrup with maple mix.
I also quite like humus and cucumber slices on toast. Bit of salt n pepper and a drizzle of organic EV Olive Oil.
To get cheap humus form Lidl to taste better just a bit of decent EV Olive Oil.
Chicken Super noodle with a lashing of Worcester or super hot chili sauce on buttery wholemeal toast is a lot better than it sounds.0
